Hey everyone, I'm Lunar. I've been playing the Ys series for quite some time now and I'm a longtime reader of these boards, but up until now I never got around to making an account. Ys has become one of my favorite series in all of gaming, and my favorite entries in the series are The Oath in Felghana and The Dawn of Ys. I'm a gamer outside of this series, and some of my favorites are Valkyrie Profile, Mother, Tales of, Star Ocean and Mega Man.
Other interests I have outside of gaming are art, music (I LOVE going to a good concert), ultimate frisbee, cooking, and many others. I hope to enjoy my stay here, so see you guys around!

Hey there, welcome to ALoY!! Hm, nice! So you're quite familiar with the series. May I ask how you got into the Ys games? Also if you appreciate art and music in general, you will really like around here. We have an "Art Room" thread and some Ys art+fanart threads, as well as MANY music-related threads. Well, I guess that's it for now. Also if there's anything you would like to ask, ask away.

My first ever knowledge of the series came from watching Cinematech on G4 many years ago. They had an Ys VI trailer that looked simply fantastic. It must have been for the PC version since Adol was in 2D, or maybe that's how the PS2 port was going to initially be, I'm not sure. A few years later a friend and I rented the PS2 version of Ark on a whim and I loved every second of it, even though I couldn't even beat Zonplas the first time we played it. Awhile after that, I got a copy of Mask of the Sun for SFC from a good friend as a birthday gift, and then I went on to discover the rest of the series from there.
I'll be sure to check out the art/music sections too! I'd love to see what you guys do and possibly even share some of my own work

Aah, Gamemusicfreak! You're the one with the Lost Kefin playthrough on Youtube, right? I've been using that to help me get through the game, it's been quite helpful

I told you GMF. People would be using your playthrough to... play through! I will use it too, eventually.

I recommend it. I didn't even realize there were walkthroughs on it on GFAQs until late last night, because I didn't think they'd have a separate listing for Ys V Expert. I was stuck trying to get the Sage Eye for like an hour last night >_>

I didn't use magic too much, because it just feels sort of awkward using it.

Magic is pretty bad in that game from what I can tell. It's a novel idea, especially with the spell crafting system, but it takes way too much extra time to keep leveling up magic to make it a viable option in battle
