Well I've been real tense and stressed out lately, and only one thing really relaxes me, ripping sprites from games. Well my current ripping project is from a game called Mushihime-sama. It's a bullet hell game developed by Cave and is Japanese only, but that doesn't affect the graphical data in the least. I don't need help extracting the sprite data, as that is all under control on my end, but one thing I do not know are any of the character, boss, or enemy names. Cave has a page dedicated to this game on their website, but it is in Japanese and I'm better off understanding a woman than that. What I'm asking is that if any of you happen to have spare time to do some gritty translation work, could you perhaps help decipher the character and enemy names for me? They seem to be listed there under the tabs but I can understand a lick of it. Cave's page: www.cave.co.jp/gameonline/mushihime/index.htmlTaito's Page: (Haven't looked through it, might be useful) www.taito.co.jp/d3/cp/mushihimesama/Thanks in advance if anyone chooses to help! Oh, here's some examples to show I'm not BSing about the sprite ripping: i10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Sprites/My%20Sprite%20Rips/mushifinaltrueboss.pngimg16.imageshack.us/img16/4134/mushiconceptart.pngi10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Sprites/My%20Sprite%20Rips/mushismallcg.pngi10.photobucket.com/albums/a110/kingofanime/Sprites/My%20Sprite%20Rips/load-icon.png

I can "translate" the stuff written in katakana. Also, all I see are four characters/enemies? Anyway... Purple-haired lead: "Reco"/ "Leco". Next to her name is written 15 and a kanji. I don't know what the kanji means, nor if those are part of her name. Yellow bug: "Kinuiro"/ "Kinuir"/ "Kinuil"/ "Kinuilo". The many monsters: no idea... ' White-haired person: "Aki" Sorry I can't be of more help? And it would be good if someone with actual japanese knowledge checked what I "translated". Good luck. '

Well if you follow the Cave link and click on the "Introduction" tab on the flash, it will brig you to a page with some text and two tabs at the bottom. Clicking over to the unhighlighted tab will brig you to the Stage and Enemy info section. Here: Clicking the boxes with the bugs in them will bring up a screen that shows their sprite and some text that I presume is their name. Also I think the main female is Reco, and that 15 is her age I believe. EDIT: It would be lovely if someone could decipher the stage names too.

Thanks Kiyuki! You have been a major help! I wanted to know the enemy names so I could properly name them on their sheets. This part is totally optional and you don't have to even pay it any heed, but do those names mean anything when translated to English? (Like what you did with the Curious Head example) In any case, I appreciate the help you and Red Hairdo gave.

I don't think the monsters' names have a meaning in particular. They are either just names or "pokemon-ish" names at best. xD Considering it's all written in katakana. (As for the stage names, I have no idea.)
(Please, correct me if I'm wrong, you all japanese experts out there. XD kiyuki included.)

I think that Red is right. At least, none of those katakana words sounds like a real word to me.
Hotareiza reminds me of Hortensia (Hydrangea) flower plant, for example but its just that.
As for the stage names, they are expressions. They sound something similar: Stage 1 - To the Shinjyuga Forest Stage 2 - Crossing the desert again, after all. Stage 3 - Walking in the land of blaze. Stage 4 - Like a night of falling stars. Stage 5 - Direction to the innermost of the forest.
But I don't really know if those translations are 100% correct.

Some of them sound like mangled words and combinations of them (Hotareiza looks so much like Hotaru (Firefly) + Laser to me), but yeah, on the whole they're probably Pokemonish names at best.
As for the stage names, these would do I guess. 1. To Shinjuga Forest 2. Onward across the desert 3. Walking the land of flames 4. Like falling stars at twilight 5. Towards the depths of the forest

Ah those sound good enough to me, as they match up with the levels and game progression just fine.
Also about the "Curious Head" bit, in Stage 3, you fight an enormous Caterpillar throughout the whole stage and when you reach its head and destroy it, the Boss bursts from it. I don't know what the Caterpillar is called, but they show it in the level preview on the flash page.
I'm also confused about the plot. Aki is the main villain, but the sprites of the cutscene images seems to show him and Reko being friendly towards each other, so I dunno. I know in the sequel, Mushihime-Sama Futari, Larsa is shown to be Aki's mother and is angry at Reko for killing him or something...
I so wish this were in English, it's a beautiful game!
Once again, your cotributions are staggering kiyuki! You too Varion!
