Adol traverses many a dungeon throughout the series, and longtime fans surely have some that they prefer more than others. What about you? (Spoilers may follow for people who haven't played the games. Read at your own discretion!) For me: Favorite -Yrys Tower (Ys IV: Mask of the Sun) It really builds up a sort of tension and urgency for the impending final conflict. I like the layout, the equipment that you get and most of all, the cheesy Mode-7 scrolling on the outside areas between floors -Valestein Castle (Ys: the Oath in Felghana) This was an okay area in the original Wanderers from Ys, but the level design in the remake is just over the top good. Cool stage layouts, fun boss battles and an absolutely stellar background theme really get you excited to kick some monster's head in -Ice Ridge of Noltia (Ys II) This one is more low-key than the others, but the music and atmosphere are amazing, especially in the most recent PSP version. I like the boots that let you walk up the ice slides too I can't say I particularly dislike any Ys dungeon though outside of Limewater Cave from Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. That dungeon just seems to drag on FOREVER, the music is boring, there are random difficulty spikes everywhere, and the actual stage layout is just, in my opinion, poorly set up and redundant.. What about you guys?

I really hate Solomon Temple from Ys II, too bloody confusing and time-consuming to traverse. Half the game is spent here so um yeah..
BurnedBless was lackluster too, but I liked the theme.
The Tigre Quarry in Ys III and the lava area were my favorites, mostly due to the mood and music. And a Searing Struggle is one of my favorite themes. I'd love to see how they translated into 3D.

Let's see.... I tend to like dungeons more because of the music playing within them rather than their epic layouts, sooooo... my favourite is actually the Mythos Path from Ys VI. ...Not exactly the most challenging of places, with the most epic of bosses (unless if one counts Geis [who was truly 'peh'-worthy]), but the music that plays in it is so, SO nice~!!!! <3 I also kind of liked the Darm Tower in Ys I, though I guess I wasn't fond of the fact that once ye are in, ye are in. But... it was fun. The music was nice. And with Adol getting captured, saved, and finding half the population of Esteria sleepwalking, exploring, and having picnics within, I loved it totally! XD As for least favourite..... I don't really have any. If I had to nitpick though, then.... the deeper, inner part of Tigray Quarry in Ys OiF? Though, actually, more correct would be to say that I hated the music within. Oppressive, gloomy, annoying, that went very well with the atmosphere. XD Those floaty jellyfish monsters were also huge thumb-pain-inducers. And..... what was it called....? Ruins of Amnesia? In Ys VI. It's funny considering how I loved both the Mythos Path and the Tigray Quarry, I hated their deeper dungeons. X'D But making my way through the Ruins of Amnesia the first time I played was a terror and a pain. >__< One had not gotten the hang of the dash jump, and the thought of dropping into the lower rooms again and again and again made one even lose the ability to jump! X'D Later on, it grew extra painful, when one discovered there be hidden goodies there, and one just had to go back in, do some annoyingly painfully well timed dash (slash) jumps and get them. (Leave free goodies?! Unheard of!! )

I love everything. Sometimes some dungeons get on my nerves for consuming a lot of time (Solomon Shrine of Ys II) and/or for having a lot of backtracking (most Ys II dungeons), but that's it.

BurnedBless was lackluster too, but I liked the theme. Yeah I dunno, this is probably the only bad part of Ys II. It's not even terrible, it's just so unmemorable and bland

Rasteenie was pretty bland, but my face when I first bumped into Velagunder pretty much set the rest of the game in motion for me.
I mean, you trudge through a boring mine area and suddenly you randomly bump into a giant, laser-spewing cyclops? Awesome! Though I was startled at first and let out an audible "Ah!" when its barrier lowered.
Do keep in mind this was when I played Compete for the first time. My First Ys II adventure was on the NES and those had drastically different bosses. Velagunder was replaced with some trippy Gargoyle thing. (The only bosses that were the same were Dalles and Darm, and only because they were major characters.

I didn't like Rasteenie at first but then I realized that there was a good deal of order to the maze itself and I began to like it more. Plus Velagunder was badass

I despise Rasteenie and the Abandoned mine.
I love Subterranean Canal, specifically the Turbo Grafx version, because I like that arrangement of the music more than any of them.
Other Favorites are Ruined City Kishgal from Ys VI, and Water Prison from Origin.

I guess I did like Temple of Ys also. Palace of Salmon might very well be my favorite Ys song period

Favorite, favorite, favorite.... Darm Tower from Ys Origin. (hahahahaaaa......... no, but seriously.) Other than that... Valestein Castle, probably. Just had a massive epic feel about it! Only thing I didn't like was the dog boss in there. Every other boss in the game gave me considerable challenge - most of them are among my favorite Ys bosses - but I killed that thing without taking more than a hit or 2 in one try, and that made me sad. The only dungeon I've really detested so far was the Palace of Solomon, just for being such a CHORE. Yeah, by the time you get into the central part of the shrine and start working your way through the subterranean canal, you've got a pretty good mental picture of the layout, but DAMN is it obnoxious when you're getting utterly lost and running around in circles before that. Other than that I enjoyed it, hah. I also kinda hated that Burnedbless made you escort the stupid kid... after playing WoW for 3 years I've grown to HATE anything that makes me escort ANYONE. And my god was that kid slow. >_<

You know, I hated the final dungeon in Ys II namely because it'd always take me forever to figure out the other sections of the Subterranean Canal. :P
I usually have to go through the Palace with Firefox opened to a page with a map of the damn place. :B
