I was at an international off-campus dorm. We had a shared kitchen and people would rotate cooking food from their native countries. As wyrdwad said though, actual College is really good. People are there because they want to be, not because they're legally required (i.e. High School and below). The atmosphere is much better.
I've been wanting to go back even. haha

Well i'll be going to a community college about 20 minutes away form my house. but I'll be living on campus once my Core creidt are out of the way, and I swicth colleges, in about a year or so.
haha wow sounds like you did have a good college life xD makes me kind of excited to go to new jersey in a year. well as long as its not like highschool, I'll feel a little better about it. and I wont know anyone, except my brother, thats gonna be attedning the college. so that'll be fun. I just hope its not awkward when I first meet some friends.. like when my sis and I properly introduced outselves to you at Otakon. LOL I just hope the people are a lot nicer than they were in my previous years of school. >.>..
less pressure?? good, i almost cracked in my last month of highschool, mostly due to my Marine class.
well thnx for the info Tom, makes me feel a little bit better about evrything :]

haha I love how the topic just changed so suddenly. xD

Katsucon huh? ok my sis and I are already planning for that so theres a higher chance of us going this year. is there a falcom pannel at katsucon??? I swear that Pannel of yours at Otakon this year was the best thing that happened all weekend >< it even made my sister laugh and she's not even a fan of any of their games. OO cant stand awkward moments... oh well gives me a chance to use the awkward silence turtle! lol I'm really hoping to make some new friends, all my other friends, or most of them at least, are still in highschool or live in another state, so some new friends would be great! and living at the school actually sounds like a good idea, it'll sort of give me a taste of what its like to live in the real world

I'm not sure if this is my isolated experience with the community college I went to, but community college for me has been absolutely nothing like the university experience. You might meet people with similar interests if you take any classes outside of the normal "required curriculum" garbage (I met Lumi and a mutual friend of ours through Japanese courses ), but outside of that it seriously felt like Highschool V2.0. I mean... it was different in terms of social aspect (albeit, I think on a much smaller scale than Uni), but the courses themselves felt very watered-down. Being at ASU was a huge change; conversing with random people out of the blue in commons areas, seeing the same faces all of the place that are taking the same kinds of courses as you (or even might have the same major!)... the whole thing just feels so much more grandiose and awesome. I just started living within walking distance of campus this year - prior to this I'd been living with my mom damn near 30 miles away from it. I expect nothing but fun times in the couple years to come. I will say this though, cause I'm not trying to sound discouraging - community college does still give you a hell of a lot more freedom to be who you want to be, like Wyrdywyrd said. Total freedom of class choice, time and direction you go towards curriculum-wise is simply awesome.

Once you get to actual university, it goes from 'oh this is pretty neat' to "OH MY THIS IS THE BEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE". I worked full time this past summer and every day at work all I could think about was getting back to school. My college is sort of a commuter school at its core, but I live on campus and there's plenty of good fun to be had(it doesn't hurt that it's right in the middle of downtown).
When I lived at home it was in the suburbs, so the average night was "we could go see a movie...again...or go to the arcade...again..or hey let's maybe play minigolf". Here it's like "Hey let's go to that cool taco restaurant where you can eat on the roof that overlooks a cemetary with the skyline in the background" or "let's go out to a concert/the park/an art show/a party/a sports game" or whatever. There's so much to do here, I love it. Even on boring nights it's fun to go out on the lawn of the dorms to chill with a few friends. We usually bring some music to listen to and either draw, chat or throw a frisbee around. You have much to look forward to, my friend
