Hi everyone Australia's greatest Ys fan has finally signed up. With Ys Seven on the Horizon I couldn't contain my joy so I came here to vent it! Quick facts (or Fukts ..... ok that was a bad pun but that will be the first and last. The Ys game I played was Ancient Vanished Omens Ys on the Sega Master System back in 1991 (I was only 6). The second game I played was Ys 3 on the Megadrive that came out 3 years later. The next game was Ys VI Ark of Napishtim on the PSP. Those were the only Ys games available in Australia. I like the games but I wasn't a hardcore fan that was until ........ When Ys Book 1 & 2 Turbo CD came out for virtual console for the Wii I downloaded it since it was the only game interesting at the time. BUT what I didn't expect it to be one of the best games I HAVE EVER PLAYED! Mainly due to the fact I've never played Ys 2 before then and I loved the combined story of 1&2 so very much. Plus I loved the music and voice acting. It was truly a game way head of its time. Ever since then I've become a crazy fan who has fought tooth and nail to play every game in the series. The only games I've missed out on are Oath in Falghana and Origins. (My Laptop would not be able to handle them.) So thats my tale now I'm here, I look foward to chatting with you all! ------------------------------------------------------ GeeMac32bit BTW I was kinda surprised when I saw a overdub thread for YsIV Dawn of Ys. Well the thing is I've already started a fandub project for Youtube recently and I'm curious is the Overdub project still going on?

First of all, welcome to Ancient Land of Ys GeeMac32bitMKII! Wow, your story is quite interesting, as well as pretty unique, as far as the "how I became an Ys fan" stories go. Yes, I and many, many other people (most of which have played it back in the day) agree that Ys Book I & II was not only one of the best Ys games ever for various reasons, but also one of the best games ever in general. But to have played this only when it got released in the Virtual Console and became a fan only then... that's very interesting. About that Ys IV project, as I already replied in the thread in question, it has already died yeeeeeeears ago. So that project is free now. I saw the video you uploaded and I think the dub in it was quite good! Maybe not as good as what some companies sometimes are able to pull off, but this is IMPRESSIVE for a fan work. Great job! I hope you get all the voice actors you need to take the project even further! By the way, you said the only Ys games you didn't yet play were Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Ys ORIGIN (I wrote all the letters in capital, because that's how Falcom spells it). But if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious to know which Ys games you have played, exactly. That is, which versions of the corresponding Ys games. Well, anyway, make yourself at home. P.S.: I'm known here as "Red Hairdo" by the way. But currently I, erm, I'm having some fun with nickname changing. By the way, don't forget you can also change your displayed nickname anytime you want. Just click on "Profile".

Hey, welcome aboard! It's nice to see some Ys veterans joining. I personally started with the PS2 port of VI, then several years later I randomly picked up the PSP version and was hooked from there.
I don't really have much to tell you other than, 'don't lean on walls, don't drink the water, and most CERTAINLY do not steal my Pop-Tarts!'

I'd play YsF on a toaster.
I can already see Falcom doing it... "Ys - The Oath in Felghana - Toaster Compatible Edition"

Origin deserves its higher system requirements, really. It has a more powerful engine (BLOOM!) and higher-resolution textures and such. Plus, best of all, THE PICTURES DON'T STRETCH AT HIGH RESOLUTIONS!

Hey everyone I've never had this kind of warm welcome at any other forum. You guys rock!
Baman: Here's the games I've played in order:
Ancient Vanished Omens Ys (Sega Master System) Wanderers from Ys (Sega Megadrive or Genesis in the US) Ys VI Ark of Napishtim (PSP) Ys Book I & II (Turbo CD/VC on the Wii) Ys IV Mask of the Sun (Snes) Wanderers From Ys (Turbo CD) Ys IV Dawn of Ys (Turbo CD) Ys V (Snes)
I've also watched complete walkthroughs of YsF and ORIGIN (Thank you and CURSE YOU for tempting YOUTUBE!) XD
But here's the awesome tale of me finding Ys VI:
A couple of years back I travelled to Melbourne for Australia's greatest Anime/Gaming Con Manifest.
Before the con started I went walk about through the City's main CBD. The first store that caught my eye was a little gaming store that sold imports from America. (When it comes to RPGs Australia get half of what N.A gets it sucks big time here.) The Newest game at the time was Ys VI Ark of Napishtim imported from N.A.
I was like: "Holy crap is that Ys for PSP!" It was 13 years since I played Ys III so I thought the series was long gone.
I was surprised but I had little spending money so I didn't buy it then.
I walked through the city a bit more and came across a neat little Anime/Game merchandise store. Nothing grabbed me except one little item....
Ys COLLECTABLE FIGURES!
Was this a sign?
I looked at all the characters on the box and Adol was the only recognizable character at the time I didn't know about the girls to way later (and I forgot about Feena and Reah since it was 16 years since I played Ys on the Master System). I said "I won't get Adol theres no way I'll be that lucky".
I brought the box and went back to the place I was staying in the CBD.
I opened the box ..... and as fate willed it , it was Adol!
This was definately a sign! XD
I proceeded to go back to the store and picked up Ys VI.
I've never had to tell that story before. But I remember it every time I look at Adol among my VG figure collection.
Mutagene: Thanks for the heads up! I won't lean on the walls or drink the water but those Pop tarts look mighty tasty.......Hehehe I wouldn't take them since they're yours. XD
Wrydwad: Thanks for the welcome and your the moderator too! thats cool if I need any help I give you a buzz. Oh and YsF on a toaster XD lol "The best way to start your day"
My Laptop is a hand-me-down and is great for internet purposes but its video card is shocking. It might run YsF but I'm not holding my breath. When I get my new computer that will change!
Mecharatta~! : Thanks for the welcome! XD If Adol was ever burnt he'd cool himself from his pure epicness. Plus he probably bulit an immunity journeying through the Moat of Burnedbless, Illburn ruin volcano pit and the Nelgal Lava pits!
XD
