Just giving the heads up to anyone who might be interested. This marks the first time I've ever seen Wander Wonder being sold on Yahoo Japan. It's an extremely rare game to find and one hell of an excellent action rpg for windows, in the vein of Zelda, Ys and Alundra. I had an absolute blast playing through it and I'm planning on writing up a FAQ for it possibly one of these days. I was lucky enough to win mine off an auction from Gillian Seed, and before that, Seldane had been looking for a copy for more than 2 years! It is expensive, but only modestly expensive considering the rarity of it. The auction ends in a little over 4 days: page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/128794547Wander Wonder Images at GameFaqs-Thomas

I had the chance to play this game before, and from the little I played it, it seemed really nice. The downhill side is that it's solely in japanese, though.
By the way, if you ever wrote a guide for it, Skye, I'd most certainly use it, and finally play this game for real. =)

I've been pushing for this game to be translated at some point, because I really feel it is a worthwhile title that really deserves to have one. I see a lot of translations happening for really random games all the time, especially over at AGTP, but many of them do not seem to have the depth of gameplay, puzzle solving, unique boss battles, storyline and characters as this game. Not to mention it has tons and tons of secrets and optional stuff in the game. For people who like Zelda or the first Alundra, this is an absolute treat on a stick!
So any chance I get, I wave that stick around hoping more interest will pick up enough to warrant a translation one day. After all I enjoy a marketing challenge. : )
I've never actually seen it being sold before on Yahoo Japan... That's a completely new and rare occurrence.

Well, you can always use a middleman service to do it. I've used ones like Celga, Rinkya and the currently Mail Order Japan, which I like the most to get several items off of Yahoo Japan. Ultimately it's going to cost you about $20-40 more with shipping and markup fees, but for around a $100, it's an extremely rare game to have, especially the Windows version of it. They made other Compile Digital Station versions of it I believe that could be run on a MSX, but not on Windows. So the Windows version is basically not only out of print, but you can't even find a downloadable version at Project Egg. Someone's already released an abandonware version on the net that you can download if you're desperate to find it just to play it, however the version I downloaded in the past (just to see what was part of the package) had a corrupted version of the secondary game that comes with Wander Wonder called Wander Number, which is a math based card-game battle, kind of like roulette meets war.
So, if you are a collector, this might be one of the last chances you'll have at getting this game for another few years more than likely.
And I'll definitely be doing a FAQ for it one of these days, which will contain a walkthrough, puzzle solutions, optional item locations, item drop information, locations of the mystery chests, and the info on the secret chapter and golden pumpkin/feathers locations. But unless I can level up my character to be strong enough to make it to the 1000 floor of the optional arena, that'll more than likely be missing from the faq. Yes, imagine trying to tackle a survival mode arena with 1000 floors! It's crazy!

Could send it to my friend in JP, but I feel like I've been abusing that relationship too much Maybe I'll end up caving =/

One of the game stands at AWA a few weeks ago had this. I didn't think anything of it because I'd never heard of it but now I feel like a fool passing up getting it for $20

I think that's pretty amazing that someone in the states was just... selling it at a convention. I've never seen it on ebay before and only recently on Yahoo Japan. For $20, you should track the seller down if you can. Even if you bought it and didn't like it, you could always sell it for more than $20. : )
Hell, I'd buy another copy for $20, just so I could entice my friend in the Netherlands to possibly work on translating it one of these days!

Hahah, I think his shop was based in Athens, if I remember correctly. I'll find one of my receipts and see if I can track the store down.
Even 20 dollars was a stretch after how much I spent there, though. I picked up the Super Famicom versions of Tenchi Souzou and Star Ocean, and Star Ocean Blue Sphere for GBC... and also Valkyrie Profile. I was damn near 300 bucks in the hole from that one booth, not to mention all the other stuff I bought

Athens eh? I'd be interested in knowing who this guy is to see what else he might have to offer. Afterall, I drive up there 3 days out of the week. If you find more information about his store, if you could let me know I'd surely appreciate it. : )
