Canada and US are so close, Justin, that I think it couldn't be helped.
And, yeah, Japan too: all its english strangerisms are US' influence. (If not absolute, then at least most of it.)

I was only refferring to english words. xD
Also, AFAIK, the majority of the english strangerism are still US' influence, definitely stronger than England's or any other country's. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Especially after WWII; after the nuclear bombs were launched in Japan and the war was ending, the US sent many people there to "help" reconstruct Japan (actually it was so that Japan wouldn't choose socialism, but capitalism instead, also by giving Japan large sums of money), and AFAIK that was when the most drastic cultural (which includes their language) changes in Japan's history were starting, as the people (men/soldiers?) sent there were living with them etc..
By the way, this is an interesting topic. xD

Also, yeah, France, Brazil, Italy, ... We are quite the soccer countries. C-Can wwweee jjjoin you, Sir Red? *legs trembling* Hmmm... I don't know if Red'll agree, but I guess maybe you can be in the club, with England being the sport's inventor and all, maybe... We could also admit Argentina and Germany, I heard they really like football. Actually, I think football's the most popular sport in a lot of countries. No wonder the inventors of American Football snatched the name for themselves. As for Japan calling it "soccer", maybe it was popularized by the Americans over there. Or maybe they use "soccer" and "football" indiscriminately.

lanzoru: By the way, England has also got really awesome soccer teams, no? And it's also popular there, so, yeah, I agree, Sushi can join. Wyrd: Wow, I didn't even know the word "lorry". xD By the way, the discrepancies between England's english and US' english aren't that bad... or at least, not as bad as Portugal's portuguese and Brazil's portuguese... =_= At most times I'm better off trying to understand some spanish/italian guy than a portuguese guy. Ghis: That's my default attack, actually. I have an "ontopic" spell, but it costs 1000 MP, but the MP limit is 999.

Football - Foot meets ball. A lot.
Why the US decided to pass the name on to a weak man's version of rugby I will never know. Contrary for the sake of being contrary, probably. It is the American way.

It is the American way. Ok, stop the presses for a moment. While Yank-Football may have more pads, and gear, its surely not the weaker of the 2 sports. For one Rugby is highly disorganized, with the usual element of success being brute force. NFL is a different game, more comparable to chess, as it required exact execution of carefully formulated plays to win. Its like calling Baseball a weaker version of Cricket, which is a far fetched statement in itself. I'll never understand the European dislike for American Football.

I never understood that one, though. "Contrary for the sake of being contrary", eh. xD

I'd have to agree with Varion, Rugby is definitely a MAN'S game, haha. I'd consider Football to be more its... hrm... Playskool brand equivalent. // P.S. I'm an American, baby! XD Yeah! I am German, Dutch, English, and a wee bit Irish. Hell, we've ALL got European influences in us, even you, Justin; the only TRUE Americans are Native Americans -- which we call "Indians", although they're not even FROM India!

Actually, I don't quite like to WATCH some sport on TV or whatever and cheer for some team... so, in that sense, yeah, I don't personally mind sports too much. BUT! Practicing said sports is something else ENTIRELY. And in that sense, sports rule!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Swimming ~ ~ ~ _o/ ~ ~ ~ rules ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Speaking of which, I should have been doing that lately. ~_~

Playing sports and watching them are two different beasts entirely. It's the fandom I don't care for, getting out and doing stuff on the other hand is quite fun.

Sucking at some sport doesn't prevent you from practicing it. You should see me "surfing". The waves totally have their way with me, instead of it being the other way around. (I didn't attempt to surf for, like, 8 years though! If I visit some beach again, then I may try.)

lol XD I guess I should. And witness the true meaning of chaos. xD Are you a Corinthian? Of course! Chaos is made into sublime at Corinthians matches. XP As for surfing, I tried once or twice, but never could really stand on the board. Must be nice to know how to do it, though.

I suck at sports, so I don't much like DOING them, either. Though I'll play an occasional game of badminton, if that counts. And I'll go bowling every now and again, which is kind of a stretch, but I guess that counts too. -Tom Bowling is sweet, because while participating in the sport, you can stare at girls bums, and drink beer.
