I'm considering buying an SSD for my laptop, to replace my HDD so I have three questions:
1. Is it possible to do what I'm proposing? 2. Have any of you ever used an SSD? 3. If so, could you recommend any particular SSD to me?

1. Absolutely, lots of people do it in particular because less moving parts means more battery life. 2. Nope. 3. The Intel's are best for performance, but naturally are the most expensive - I don't think I've heard of any particular brand that's unreliable, but they do vary wildly in both cost and read speeds, I think the Corsair V series are the cheapest (same improvement in battery life but not a *huge* boost in speed), while the Intel's are top. IIRC Samsung's are one below that, but I can't remember for sure.

Aha! Thanks for the response! I could get an Intel SSD for $250 if I wanted, for an 80 GB. For $100 more, I could get 48 more GB (for a total of 128 GB at $350) with a Corsair SSD. Hmmm... so basically, it's either speed and performance, vs. size... I think I'll go with speed and performance. Thanks again!

I half watched this 70's zombie flick on the Space channel last night. There were Nazi zombies eating skinny dipping women. It was awesome haha.
