Comedy!

So, after seeing my favorite group of doods, Derrick Comedy at the premier of their movie last nite, and after spending a lot of time at work acquainting myself with the genius of the late Bill Hicks, I've decided that it's high time to talk about it on the internets!

For how little I like to talk politics, religion or anything controversial, there is something I love about the comedians that take those matters to the stage. My favorite standup comics seem to follow this trend, at least. Hard to call an all time favorite between George Carlin and Lewis Black, though. Carlin certainly made you think a little more than you laughed, though the man was a comic genius through and through. Can't Deny Black's amazing delivery style, though. The super-pissed off tirades he goes on put me in tears every time. Probably a mix of tears of laughter and sorrow. It's all true. >_>

I'm also a fan of the sillier stuff, though. Mitch Hedberg was a brilliant comedian. His delivery of irreverent stoner jokes was amazing. Gotta love Stephen Lynch's demented songwriting comedy, too. Jim Gaffigan's jokes about food and all the other lighter stuff he does are great, too.

I've only had the pleasure of seeing Black and Gaffigan live, but I'd definitely like to see more, especially after Seeing Derrick last nite. That was such a hilarious treat.

So, what comics do you like? Or which funny movies? Or do you have a liketotallyawesome joke to tell?

Mitch Hedberg is my favorite comedian ever. I mean, seriously, his jokes and delivery were just impeccable. I really miss him, and I wish I could have met him.

I've checked Hicks out before, and have respected Carlin for a long time, but to be honest, I haven't paid attention to many other comedians.

Maybe I should change that.

CARLIN all the way! I like to think my sense of humour played an important role in becoming an Atheist and altogether more sceptical and there was no-one more important than him. God I CANNOT WAIT to purchase his All My Stuff DVD!!! Heaven.

But I do like living comedians too. Gervais (absolute genius), Bill Maher, Billy Connolly are all top notch. Yep, my tastes are not that diverse.

I loved Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy growing up.
Mitch Hedberg rules! I recently went to see Brian Regen, who is now at the top of my list for best standup comic. I would love to see a Jim Gaffigan show too.

Jim Gaffigan is very worth seeing live! My only regret is that the seats I go were so far away and it was a pretty big venue. =/

I'm in your boat on that one, Sushi. He more reinforced my questioning of thigns than helped create who I am, though. But, that matters not. The man is a legend!

It's certainly not his American politics subject matter that I don't like (quite the opposite in fact, I love that 'America is NOT number #1' video on youtube, for example), it's just that you compared him to Carlin.

No! He's still OK though.

Even on the daily show. See - I like American satire enough to watch that!

Oh, and how could I forget, Louis CK! Fast becoming one of my favourites. Makes me laugh out LOUD, which is quite rare, even when I think something is HILARIOUS.

Other than that I really like Brian Regan and Ron White, along with most everyone else already written(especially Hedberg. Bless his soul)
