Mwehehe! Yoinked wyrd's idea from the video game forum and switched the focus to movies! :DDDD
So, for movies released between the years of 2000 and 2009, which one is your favourite?
I'm going to choose Up for now since it was the most recent movie that I saw and loved. Once I get around to digging into my horrible memory a bit more, I might change my answer. :P
(I was also thinking about Live Free or Die Hard but, again, it's only cuz it's in recent memory. ^^ Still, that movie was damn fun and over-the-top. ^o^~)

The only one on my Netflix list that I've rated 5 stars from the last decade is Let The Right One In, a Swedish vampire movie. (The best zombie one was 28 Weeks Later.)
If I google the top lists, I agree w/ Spirited Away, Donnie Darko, and Anchorman.

Damn! Fight Club came out in 1999. I'd have to say Howl's Moving Castle or The Incredibles, then. Both truly amazing works of art, indeed.

I'll have to go with G.I. Joe (Action) and Paprika (Anime). Wyrd gets two, so I get to use two too!

MP makes a very compelling argument! I might do well to name that for best ignoring animations.

I'm not a movie-movie person AT ALL (I mean... I watch one movie a year.... :'D) but.... animated stuffs count right? Was Spirited Away released in this decade? If so, then, THAT! Meh god! That movie was ultimate magic personified~~~~ *__* (That march of the sprits right in the beginning~~~~!) Can I pick two (wyrdwad style! )? If so - 5cm per Second too! Meh god.... that was magical in entirely another sort of way! XDIf it has to be non-animated - the only one that pops up in my memory with extreme love is... Throne of Blood? But that wasn't released anytime this decade (even if I did watch it now!)! :'''''D The Color of Paradise? That was released within these ten years, ne? But honestly, neither of these two movies can hope to compare with either Spirited Away or 5cm per Second.

Clerks 2!!!
But only because I'm a fanboy haha.
If I was to pick an unbiased selection, it would have to go to Watchmen. That movie is just awesome on so many levels.

Why? It was every bit of super hero movie that it needed to be, while maintaining an anchor on what reality would kind of be in that situation. The comic was amazing, and so was the movie. There is no better way to pull off a story like that imo.

Yeah but it was a realistic super hero flick. You were not supposed to like half of the characters, which obviously had the proper effect on you.

I, like many people, consider the graphic novel to be absolutely exquisite. The movie, on the other hand, was done quite well for something that was never gonna live up to expectations, I thought. Liked the soundtrack choices and all the sex was kinda needed, in a way. I saw it with a Christian friend of mine and it was hilarious, the way he kept covering his eyes.

Superhero movies ain't too bad. I've enjoyed many of the ones to come out the last decade or so, but they don't rank in my super duper top list.
My pick: Gladiator (2000)
Why? First off, it's personal bias. I love historical-style epics, and this one pulled it off for me. (My prior favorite in this vein was Braveheart.) The script and acting was great. It also features gorgeous set design, costumes, and one of my favorite movie scores combining the prowess of both Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard (plus her amazing voice!!). It's just one of those movies I'll gladly watch again and again.
Additionally, while the ending was not "happy"-- it was still uplifting. The movie was a well made piece of art, in my book.
