there are many aspects of IT. they range from installiation/repair/networking to outight programming. one thing i have noticed from verious friends that are outright programmers is methods of codeing that were not available when they were in school they end up learning as their jobs need it. meaning with programming there are always going to be major changes that are going to require more learning.

all IT aspects are continuously changing, form new network/server hardware to new business models to do analysis on the required IT for a company.
if you go with programming just go to a collage that's well known for its high quality, the actual language you learn to program with, is continuously subject to change, ruby on rails is apparently the new thing here in Europe among business. it was ASP.NET just two years ago.
