I have been messing around with this game and it seems really fun, but which one is the best one? I know the Genesis version has a partial English patch so that's what I'm using, but is there a better one?

From what little I've played of it(being hard to figure out the quests n' stuff), the Turbo/PC Engine CD version is quite good, no jerky scrolling that I recall, though, the gfx could've been better, matybe it Hudson was the ones responsible, but, it was Victor Musical/JVC. The cinemas, IIRC, are quite cheezy, but the music, is fantastic!

Theoretically, the best version is Falcom's "Sorcerian Original" - though that one still has the jerky scrolling issue that plagues MOST versions of the game, so you may be better off with the Genesis or Saturn version if that bothers you too much. The Genesis and Saturn versions are definitely the "smoothest" of the bunch, though the Saturn version is kinda weird in that everything is done in really crappy 3D - but it's still completely faithful to the core gameplay! EDIT: Er, I guess it's Dreamcast, not Saturn. My mistake! -Tom Oh but there is a Saturn version my friend. EDIT - I'm a dumbass

HAHAHAH Yes, you know I thought about this last night right before I went to bed. I think I had a major brain fart, because I was reading the Xanadu Translation thread, and had gotten the two games mixed up. I guess in some magical fairy land, Sorcerian was released on Falcom Classics Volume 3 [/epic fail]

Yeah if you are looking to play it in English, the Sierra version is going to be your best bet. It comes with a handful of scenarios, including the main ones. I'm guessing you could try playing it using DosBox, although I've been looking for a way to simply run it from the original disks.
I've got Sorcerian Forever as well, and it looks like an incredible remake from what I've played of it. I'd say that if there was ever to be a translation project for a Sorcerian game, that'd be the one I'd pick. : )

I can get the Sierra Sorcerian to run naively on my PC, which is XP SP2.

Yes, its really weird.
If I use DosBox, the sound doesn't work at all. If I just double click the Sierra.exe file, it opens and works no problem.
The same thing happened with Dragon Knight 3.

You've played Knights of Xentar? Nice. I wasn't gonna say anything. other than "you're a real friend, Rolf. I would've sold out Desmond for far less"

Its pretty cool, and I still have to finish it. I guess the whole series was released on the PCE too.

Egads. I remember when this game was "New" I remember seeing it in the generic Sierra "catalogue" that came out with their games ... I feel old now.
Figures. When Sierra got into publishing the Game Arts series of games, they originally brought over 4: Thexder, Silpheed (Totally loves), Zeliard (Totally loves more) and Socerian (Never played). Eventually they also brought over Firebird: Thexder 2, but beyond that... I don't think there were any other ones.

Yeah I ended up dumping the Genesis version, it's pretty bad
Sorcerian Original is awesome though, and I'm waiting on my copy of Disciples of Seven Star Sorcery for Dreamcast to come in the mail

Ah okay, cool. Is it Redbook audio like Ys or does it use the PC Engine's sound chip?
