Not that anyone really cares or wants to know, but I got to spend the last few weeks at the dentist because of an abscess that I had on the roof of my mouth. It took a week for the dentist to even see me after the abscess appeared, and then it took five days for them to learn that the antibiotics weren't working. Thus, on Monday (August 6) I got to have it drained, and had a tube put in its place to drain it more. Then I had to have three root canals on Thursday (August 9), which they were unable to finish do to the amount on disease that were in my teeth. Finally they were able to finish the damn root canals the next Thursday (August 16), and now I just have to go back one last time in two weeks to have three caps put on. Right now I just have temps so I can't eat anything that might pull them out. The big question I've been asking is, "Was it dead teeth that caused the abscess or was it the abscess that killed the teeth?" No one really seems to know. I miss real food.

Woo. Reminds me of the time I had 7 of my teeth refilled over a course of 2 months. Guy had to drill out all my old mercury fillings and replace with the white composite fillings. Woohoo, serves me right for not visiting the dentist in years.
Now if only dentists were hot lady chicks... not balding middle aged men...

Well I had another lovely week at the dentists, that wasn't suppose to happen. On Sunday my two front temps fell out, so I had to go and have them glued back in on Monday. The problem was they fell out again on Monday night,(while I was brushing my teeth no less). Thus The Captain took me to the dentist again on Tuesday. Well they managed to stay in till Thursday when they fell out once more (that one really pissed me off, since I was already mad that I couldn't get a pose I was trying to draw at the time right), meaning I got to go once more on Friday. On that visit the lady who was gluing them back in tried using a different type of glue, as well as drilling off the backs of the temps. Hopefully I won't have to go back till next Thursday, when I get my caps. Also you've not felt true fear till you've had a dentist drill in your mouth without shooting you full of pain medication first. Oh, and the staff know me so well, that I'm now an "in" joke. I also think (but I am not quite sure) that the staff there place bets on when my temps will fall out again.

Yes, and I'm so very happy that I do. Actually I'm very happy that all this happened now and not seven months from now. If that happened then I'd be knee deep in dentist bills. Tragically when I turn 18 I lose my health insurance, then if I get sick or hurt I'm screwed. Damn you, lack of entry level jobs with insurance!

Yay! I finally got my caps, and they seem to be staying in too. If I'm lucky I shouldn't have to go back to the dentist for a few months. Edit: Some lucky dental assistant won $20.00 since my temps fell out again on the morning I got the caps put in. Really, there was a statement of damn and money changing hands, it was like watching watching someone pay a pimp.

I had a root canal appointment as soon as I got back from my trip to India It actually wasn't any worse than getting a filling, actually. I didn't even know if and when they pulled out the roots. Actually, if you ask me, the worst thing to do at the dentist is get a cleaning. A root canal has no blood involved, cleanings do. It's like they literally cut into your gums without anesthetics. Unfortunately I had to get a cleaning the very day after the root canal but the worst part is that during the cleaning my dentist suddenly discovered my wisdom teeth (which I didn't even know I had). Apparently I have all 4 and now they all have to come out. She just dropped this on my head like a bomb. The weird thing is that the wisdom tooth specialist was the same lady that did my root canal the day before and she hadn't mentioned a thing about my wisdom teeth within the 90 minutes she had to look at them, so why did the cleaning lady figure it out in 5 minutes? They're telling me my wisdom teeth have cavities and that I should take them out before they get infected, all the while sounding very serious and grave about the whole thing. If it's so serious why didn't they say anything about it two years ago when I got all those fillings? Because I'm sure those 4 teeth have been there in the exact same shape and position for the past 3 years at least. Are they really trying to help or do they just want to mine gold out of my mouth?

Actually, if you ask me, the worst thing to do at the dentist is get a cleaning. I totally agree! The last time I went, it was to get a cleaning, and it was rough, I hated it.
