Well, I finally got the CFW 550 Gen D3 installed. Can anyone help me with figuring out emulator stuff? I mainly would like to rip PSP games onto my PSP, & PS1 games, but would also like to get into all the others(TG, SNES, Gen, etc.). I haven't been able to find a guide that works with my mind....I just have a hard time reading so much stuff.

So, can anybody point me in the right direction? I feel like a total tool, but, this stuff really is hard for me to understand.

You already installed the CFW, didn't you? What exactly do you need help with? Plugins, emulators or running ISOs?

Probably top of my list is being able to rip my PS1 games & get them running on my PSP. Along with that, I'd like to be able to rip my PSP games. Below that, getting emulators running for SNES, Gen, Turbo, etc. But PS1 is my first priority.

You're better off downloading the ISO than trying to rip PSX games, they're small and easy to find anyway. If you insist on ripping them from a disc, then I dunno, it's probably not very hard, just search for something like "PSX to eboot" on google. Again, I don't know how to rip PSP games either, but search on google. It's simply impossible that you haven't been able to find a good guide on how to do it, there are an almost endless amount out there.
Emulators are easy. Download one (like the PSP SNES emulator), put the folder in the PSP/GAME folder and you're good to go.
Actually playing PSX/P games is exceedingly easy as well. For PSP games, make a folder called ISO on the root of the memory stick and simply drop ISOs there, then you're ready to play them. For PSX games, drag the folder of your desired PSX game (with content) to the GAME folder on your memory card. For example, when I downloaded Alundra, I had a folder called Alundra, and inside was the ISO. I then converted the ISO to two files; EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN, after which I deleted the ISO. Then I simply copied the Alundra folder to the GAME folder, and I was ready to play.

I've found a few guides, but even the simplest of them tends to go over my head You mentioned converting Alundra's ISO to two files; EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN. Is there some sort of program that convert's it to 2 files? It seems like what little I was able to understand, I recall something about converting ISO's to EBOOT.PBP's, but the KEYS.BIN doesn't ring a bell. I'll have to do some more searching I guess.

Ok, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I got a couple of PS1 games running. Ripping the games proved to be more troublesome then I would've thought. Both my drives have problems reading PS1 games for some reason. So, I found some downloads & got them working. I didn't have to do anything with a KEY.BIN, so, I'm a little confused on that, but, either way, I got them working! Now I can hopefully play a bit of catch up on alot of my games, since lately I've been playing portables more then consoles. Thanks for your help! I can be pretty daft at times, so I appreciate any & all help!

Yes, I use a program to convert the ISOs, but it sounds like you already figured that out. The program I use converts the ISO into the two files I described before, but if yours worked in a different way, then that's fine too, of course. No problem, I was in your position myself, once. And btw, you should actually play Alundra. It's a great game.

Yeah, the program I found just turns it from an ISO to an EBOOT. I seem to have problems actually ripping PS1 games, which I don't recall having problems doing. So, I've downloaded a few.
As for Alundra, bought it the day it was released & beat it! And I actually recently finally played thru Alundra 2. Man, if they had just used the Alundra 1 engine, that game might've been great!

Alundra 2 looks pretty bad, I probably won't go near it. I felt Alundra concluded on a very satisfying note, anyway.

Storywise, Alundra 2 has nothing to do with the first sadly(or maybe it's a blessing?). Actually, I enjoyed the story & humor in Alundra 2, but, the 3D made the game quite frusterating. It could've been a great game if it was built like the first.

Well, unfortunatly, a decent amount of games that I've been wanting to play, don't works. Namely Parasite Eve 2, Brave Fencer Musashi, & Monkey Hero(shut up, I like this game!) off the top of my head, I had trouble with Mega Man Legends(though, I wonder if they'll do a remake or something with the recent announcement), & others don't have music working. Still, several games I've been wanting to play thru do work, like Arc the Lad & Wild Arms 2.

Are you kidding?! I got Brave Fencer Musashi and Megaman Legends to play, no sweat! The only game I ever had trouble with, was The Misadventures of Tron Bonne -- my favorite part of the MML series! Oh, there NEEDS to be more Tron Bonne!

Musashi actually kept resetting my PSP. Right after it says Chapter 1 or whatever, it fades to black....& then turns off the PSP. I reripped & reconverted it a couple times, still does the same thing. I tried both my original disc, & a download I found, it just doesn't like that game.
MML works, but, is glitchy as hell. Lot's of poly's don't even show up, parts of the floor are see thru. I don't recall if I tried reripping/converting that one. I've been wanting to play the MML's for a long time, & like many other games, they got sidetracked & backlogged. But I just finished the MMZ collection, & that got me in the mood to want to start up MML. Maybe they'll end up releasing the PSP versions over here if MML3 ends up getting more hype?

Are you using POPSLoader? If you have it installed, you can hold R while loading a PSX EBOOT to select the optimal POPS version to play it under. You can use this guide to find the optimal version.

Thanks! I'm now working on getting Popsloader & all the POPS. I'm mostly concerned about Monkey Hero, which doesn't work all that well on the PS3. I know it's a cheesy game, but, I like it!
One thing I am having trouble with is finding patches for games, most specifically Parasite Eve 2. It sounds like I need one for that, but haven't yet located one. If need be I can play it on my PS3 I guess. I mainly want to play it before Parasite Eve 3 comes out.

Well, I can't seem to update Pops after 373 for some reason. I know 3.90 says something about the file being too big. I forget was 3.80 said. I thought I had found all the latest files to do that stuff, but, maybe I'll have to do more searching.

I'm personally on the 5.50 GEND3, and I haven't had to mess with Pops all too much yet.
Granted, I'm using self-bought PSN copies of a good few of my games, which I recommend.
