Hiya! I'm Michi, and I'm...you know...joining the forums, lol. I love the Ys series, I've been fascinated ever since someone who worked at a now gone specialty video game store gave me the TG-16 version of Ys I and II and told me I had to play it. Falcom has sort of always been in the back of my mind as a classic company that I never really knew enough about, but in the past few years they've managed to make a name for themselves with actual US releases and a lot of online information. So...yeah, I like the series! I have SO MANY Ys soundtracks on my mp3 player, it's silly. I'm such a dweebus...

'ello and welcome to the forums!
Sound kinda like how I got into Ys/Falcom, only I started with Ys III for SNES and just had Falcom sitting in the back of my mind for years until I finally plunged head-long into all things Ys.
Enjoy your stay! ...or else

Yeah, as more and more translations and localizations are popping up, I'm going back and playing all the stuff I missed. V and Seven are the only ones I really need now, although I still have to get IV working right...the CD music never wants to play back properly at all. However, I am really excited about the news that Falcom plans to focus on more US releases in 2010. They have such a backlog of good PSP stuff just waiting for localization...I want to play Brandish!

I don't know, but I will say, if they give us release dates, I'll give them pre-orders. I don't usually buy many PSP games, but if Falcom makes the effort, I'll drop the cash. They've earned that right from me with quality games and amazing soundtracks. Also, one of the very first Falcom games I ever saw was Popful Mail. My cousin got it for Christmas along with the Sega CD or 32x or whatever, and he wouldn't let me play it...so I just kept reading the manual over and over, lol. It took me nearly 10 years to find and play it, but it's mine now! *rawr*

Mental note: Finish Popful Mail for Sega CD. I've been sitting on my copy that some friends found for me for $10 and haven't touched it since long before my first gen Sega CD broke (and that was over 2 years ago!)

Welcome to our Personal Hell, Michichan. Please enjoy your 'stay'.
... nah, I'm just messin' with ya. We're really nice folks. And Wise Wizard Wyrdwad is correct; we can answer any of your Falcom questions.
I started with Napishtim PS2 and have barely touched the old games, so I'm on a pretty different boat from you, but what I lack in experience I make up for with ENTHUSIASM! Which is bizarre, considering how grumpy and pessimistic a person I am.

Oooh, Hickville. I've lived in Hickville. Like 18 people in my senior class Hickville. Not the best ville to live in. But I mean...ENTHUSIASM. PESSIMISTIC ENTHUSIASM. What could be more fun? AH a backloggery...I have one of those, but I totally forgot about it, lol. Time to update it!

Yep, pretty much ^^ I live most of my life going between that look and the "Eh, whatever" look. Well...and occasionally the excited fangirl look...but...yeah...

This forum got me to create a backloggery: I have a list of nearly 90 games that I started a while ago, but I've only been entering stuff into my backloggery as I play 'em.

My friend actually got me to create one...then he complained I hadn't beaten enough of them, so I just started adding as much as I could think of that I'd beaten...and then some I hadn't...and yeah, now I still have barely over 50% beaten, lol.

Thanks Nayrex!
The problem with the video game boat is that, yeah, it's big, but it's also continually sinking and every time you bail out some games, it fills up again, lol.

Welcome.
I'm doing the same - playing the Ys games in 'order' (release-order). I'd say I'm about half-way through Ys II but have been distracted by other games lately and think it will take me some time to work my way back to Ys.

Welcomes and salutes. I have SO MANY Ys soundtracks on my mp3 player, it's silly. I'm such a dweebus... Hey now! It's hardly dweebus-y... which is a word. My mp3 player is almost half Falcom stuff. It's AWESOME!

Haha, yeah. I have a 30gb Zune (that I got half off during a sale) with probably 25gb of it being video game osts, random anime music, and J-rock/visual kei. The other 5gb is probably Pink Floyd related (well ok, maybe 1gb...not the point, lol)

Pretty much, video games soundtracks and stuff are often so well made, they're just fun to listen to. Falcom is NO exception. It sure is nice to have a place to actually talk about this stuff, since most of my friends know pretty much nothing about Falcom or their games. It makes me sad...

I'm working on it, lol. I have my one friend playing Ark of Napishtim, and I made him mess around with Ys I Complete earlier today. He got up to the first boss and got annoyed by how little damage he was doing, lol. He apparently doesn't like ANY sort of grinding. He's silly. ^^
