If you have an interesting story to tell involving Falcom and their games, post them here.
I'll start with one that just happened today, while it's fresh in my mind:
A Sudden Reversal of Fortune
The past couple days have been hell for me. On Friday, I was at work when some strange, mentally-handicapped person walked up and gave me a hug while saying creepy sh*t like "Don't be afraid! I'm your friend!"
The next day, Saturday, I learned that my PayPal account had been hacked into and used to make a purchase. I had to call PayPal and get things fixed.
It was at this point that I started to wonder if I had picked up some really bad karma or something.
Sunday was...decent. I went with my family (mom, dad, and little sis) on a nice long hike in the wilderness, with the only ill fortune being my little sister throwing a tantrum.
Now it is Monday. It started out okay. I watched some special features on the Blu-Ray I had recently bought of Predator (the original, with Arnold).
Then things got ugly when I went to an appointment and my mom brought my sister, who acted like a jerk.
Things started to look up though, when little sis begged mom for a new cell phone because her's wasn't "cool" enough. Why was this good luck? Because it just so happens that right next door to the Verizon place is a GameStop.
I went inside, browsed the store, asked whether the PSP version of Pirates! the had for the PSP compared to the PC version, saw a Diablo II box set for PC and asked the clerk if Diablo II was better than the first (which I have played), etc.
And then, suddenly, the Gods of Gaming smiled down upon me.
As previously touched upon, I had been looking at the PSP games they had available, not seeing much that interested me, until I got to the bottom and noticed a copy of Ys Seven!
It wasn't long before I grabbed the case and waited for mom and little sis to finish and come over. The moment they walked in the door, Kate, my little sis showed me her new cell phone. I showed her my new PSP game. Now, Kate is an Ys fan, too, so she was actually almost as excited as I was.
But my good fortune didn't end there.
I walked up to the counter and presented the case to the clerk that I had been chatting with a little bit beforehand, and started talking about Ys and how much I loved it. The clerk reached into the drawer where they keep the game discs, but instead of pulling out a bare PSP disc, he pulled out a big box.
It was a brand new copy of the Premium Edition of Ys Seven.
I'm sure my mouth dropped open at least a little, as the clerk rang it up, commenting that for some reason there was no price difference between the two versions.
After purchasing the game, I looked at the back of the box and stared in awe at the list of bonus items. I then thanked the clerk repeatedly, went to the car, and mom drove me home, where I immediately went to my computer to write the text you are now reading.
Luck is a funny thing.
