Hello, I'm Christopher, but everyone just calls me Unsavory (or) Maggot!
Growing up, I've been exposed to Falcom in different ways. My mom and dad loved Faxanadu, even though it's not technically Falcom, it still counts in my book. I discovered Legacy of the Wizard via a very classy full-color video game cheats/secrets/passwords book. Back then, I wanted to try *all* of the cheats out from that book; I rented video games, just to have fun cheating. Later when we discovered the now-defunct "Funcoland", we bought Legacy of the Wizard and Faxanadu. We also randomly happened to rent Ys III, although I'm not sure what system it was for (SNES or Genesis) -- I'm thinking it was the SNES version though. Since Funcoland became defunct, I couldn't buy Ys III SNES anymore, so I did what any obsessed gaming guru does. Nobody in my family knew how to pronounce Ys correctly. Not until the big explosion, where I suddenly get interested in ALL of the Ys games. I played III (SNES), then II (Famicom), then IV (Super Famicom), I (Sega Master System), V (SNES), then had a run with PC Engine emulation. After that, I actually bought Ys VI many months BEFORE buying a Playstation 2. What all of those games had in common, was their music. It was all so catchy!! Especially the soundtrack to Ys Books I & II! I was in shock and awe, I didn't think ANY video game music could be that good! I didn't connect the dots until later on doing more research, and stumbling upon this community during the exciting revelation that Ys: Oath in Felghana was in the making!
I eventually came to hack Faxanadu, however lightly. (The hack of which is now considered a wash, but I can always come back to it at another time.) Now I'm the proud owner of several amazing Falcom works:
Arcturus (PC) (Not Falcom per-se; just my "it still counts" rule)
Brandish (PCE, PSP)
Brandish IV (PC)
