The group responsible for the ongoing Shining Force 3 project need translators. This project has been underway for years, and it's probably one of the most professional and intensive translation jobs yet, not to mention one of the longest running. Sadly, my own japanese is. . . practically non existent, but I thought I'd bring to everyone's attention in case someobdody might be able to help. The project is a great way along and I believe that what still requires translating probably wouldn't bee too great an imposition to anyone willing to offer assistance. Should anyone want to involve themselves in this long awaited and popularly anticipated project, the forum can be found here: forums.shiningforcecentral.com/index.php?showforum=34And the main site: sf3trans.shiningforcecentral.com/

Just out of interest, how much work is "not too great an imposition"? Because the project site says 'the last 30 files of Sc2 and all of Sc3 is yet to be reviewed for accuracy', which is quite a bit. Unless they have a translation checker but are just missing a small number of files worth of translation, but I can't see that being the case because then the translation checker could just do the remaining ones.
Kind of curious how much the translation has been checked since I last saw it, there were definitely some noticeable errors last time. That was about a year ago though.

I'm not intimately involved with the project, but the impression I got was that they need people specifically for fresh translation, and not review. They typically have (had) multiple translators evidently, and even if there are more files, I'm sure they would parcel out only small quantities to anyone willing to help in accordance with such persons availability/willingness.
Best to ask them for more reliable details. I just thought that raising awareness of the project a little might circulate some interest and maybe urge things along a little. They've been doing such an admirable job (with regular releases and updates for years) that I'd hate to see them run into a wall that could halt the whole thing.

Wow this is still going? I remember doing a tiny bit years ago, the main problem then was that the tool they were using to rip the script kept getting kanji mixed up meaning everything you were given first had to be checked against a Japanese fansite that had the complete scripts up :/

As much as I would be interested in helping, it's hard enough juggling professional translation work, company obligations, and journalistic obligations.
Come March 2011 when my contract is complete if there is still a need for translators I'll consider it.

Naah, you can manage. Sounds like you're enough of a workaholic to make me feel lazy, so I'm sure you could fit a little more on your plate with an appetite l ike that. It probably won't kill you.

I'd totally try to help if it wasn't for the fact that it takes me half an hour to sloppily translate a 4koma... I'd probably be better off just editing, but of course, EVERYONE wants to do that.

Ahahaha...more a problem that I have a LOT on my plate but I am a total lazyarse so nothing gets accomplished which then snowballs into complete chaos. D:

I sometimes forget to eat because I'm too busy trying to work, does that count?
It'll be nice when my current gig is up so I can get back to finishing two projects I've got on hold.

I tend to do that when I'm writing sometimes. When I get in "the zone" (great, now I sound like a fuckin' jock). When the words start to get blurry and I have trouble focusing I'll look at the clock and realize I've been typing from 1 am to 10 without putting anything in my body but multiple pots of coffee. Then when I do eat, it knocks me straight out.
