Well I saw a Gurumin PSP on my local video game store for a small bargain price and I am now brainstorming myself on whether I should buy the game or not. I checked the review on RPGFan (and I trusted this review site so much) and the game's features are great (and it's cute maybe because I "like" loli ) but the story isn't because it only has a 70% grade (I'm so lazy on reading about its criticism) since a 75% and above is acceptable for me. You see, even if it has a great gameplay and sound (and I don't mind the graphics because I'm not a graphics whore unless it is very, very horrible), an RPG with a poor story is unacceptable to me. But as a Falcom fan, I feel that I still wanna buy it but I just can't decide thanks to that issue so will you guys please state your opinion (and it's not that I don't trust you guys but please make it unbiased as possible) about it's plot so that if I'm convinced on your opinions, I will then buy the game this Christmas. I await your opinions especially yours Wyrdwad.

I am not Wyrd but I can say the Gurumin story isn't anything exceptional. It's a basic story to fuel the gameplay, like most Ys games.

Sort of similar to what cronorei said, if you like any of the Ys stories, I can't think of any reason you won't like Gurumin's.
Although I am a bit puzzled by your preferences, since Gurumin and most of the Ys games aren't really good story RPGs, but the great gameplay more than makes up for it (now, this part might just be me being biased).

Just throwing my two cents out there, 1 for your methodology and 1 for the game: - Just going off of the number/letter score of anything, from one site!!, and passing judgment based on that alone? Wow, please don't. Do yourself a favor. - The game is cute and fun. I would recommend it, but not as highly as wyrd wad tom.

5 Reasons to Buy and Playthrough Gurumin:
1. Fun Gameplay and Level Design 2. Tons of Hidden Treasures, Unlockables and Equipment 3. A Simple, but deeply profound story, especially near the end of the game. 4. Parin makes a 'springy' sound when she jumps. 5. Quirky Music that is sure to grow on you. (There's even an entire song madeup of various animal sounds!)
And on top of all of that, it is extremely cheap now. Definitely one of my favorite PSP games. Right up there with Ys Seven and the number 1 PSP game of all time: Brandish: The Dark Revenant. : )

Can you actually quantify and explain the difference between a story that RPGFans many different reviewers rate at 70% and 75% (especially as you apparently didn't even ready why)? It's a silly reason to not buy a game you think you'll like, especially when it's a cheap domestic title - trust yourself more and go for it.

Hey I never said I didn't like the story. But it's certainly no Xenogears or Nier. I admit I haven't beaten it yet but I've beaten the first 4 major bosses, dunno how many more there are besides the obvious.

*facepalm* LOL I'm too late. I went to my nearest local store earlier and it appears the game is already sold out. If I really can't find another physical copy of it, I have no choice but to download it via PSN (along with Wild Arms XF). Anyway, thanks for your opinions about the game. I'm now convinced on buying it. About the game's story: Sorry guys if I kinda sounded like IGN (one of the most biased game critics of all IMO) on the game but I always have a poor decision on buying something in which I'm very, very cautious on it because I wanna see for myself first if it's really valuable for me that I just don't want that product to end up being dumped already on my room in just a few days collecting dust. I did that stupid mistake before a lot of times and I'm not gonna do that again. I learned that lesson from this guy (sorry it's only in mixed little English and Tagalog): www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVcxOjU090APeace \/

^ Yes sometimes I even ignore the critics if they say that one game suck (Suikoden IV and Tactics for example) and your right about myself as a trusted reviewer. But still, the only thing I need for me to decide wisely is that oomph feeling so that I'll be totally convinced. Still, thank you for your advice.

Yeah reviews are pretty much null. My personal GOTY was Nier and that got panned across the board by all the "major" reviewers.

Black Bean is optional -- hope you realize that! You don't even need to beat him to get the best ending. -Tom it is? but still feel better if i beat it. lol i haven't touched gurumin for weeks... i would rather put black bean on my food then beat it with a drill...
