Why do you say "ignorant"? Sony's really not done anything to merit ire from fans in a long time (save for the PSPgo), I think we are working with different definitions for 'a long time' here. Sony has done quite a few things that certainly has attracted ire from fans (Besides the PSP-Go) but hopefully, they learned enough from their mis-steps. Hopefully. That said, having Falcom release home console games (PS3) would work better for me than a portable. Of course, PC would be even better. But since it looks like the NGP and the PS3 will have similar architecture, one wonders if that will increase the chances of seeing PS3 releases as well. C.T.

If they're going that far I think it would be safe to fear they'll pull a GBA/GC gimmick where some games requie you to have both to access certain events.
As somebody who never had a Game Boy Advance, the occurence always pisse d me off just as much as when my playstation games wanted my non-existent pocketstation.

Actually, Yotaka, the PSP2 has a much larger screen than the original PSP. Nitpicking, I know. But I generally agree with your post. There's a chance it might be region-locked, but I'm crossing my fingers that it won't come to that. I still have some ignorant faith in Sony. Why do you say "ignorant"? Sony's really not done anything to merit ire from fans in a long time (save for the PSPgo), and I'd frankly be rather shocked if the NGP turned out to be region-locked, as that seems like a really great way for Sony to give Nintendo a subtle sort of middle finger (seeing as how the 3DS *will* be region-locked). Also, I'm not a fan of the name NGP either, but mostly because "NG" is usually an acronym for "no good," so all I can think about when I hear "NGP" is "no-good portable." -Tom Haha, or N-Gage Portable, which is definitely synonymous with No-Good! Also, I seriously think these game systems SHOULD have developer tools, for people at home! That's what the 64DD was going to be, and it never panned out! The fact that all three companies are trying to ban out custom firmware, etc. is slightly distressing -- especially as there ARE some awesome custom games and other misc homebrew out there!

...wait, they never said it was an Ys game did they? They never linked this to the multiplatform project, no. It's just that they showed up on the developer list at the meeting. However, Falcom's BEEN talking about an Ys Seven multiplatform version for awhile now. I was kinda confused, becuase didn't they say another Legend of Heroes game was in development, too?

'Distressing', really? Sure, there are some potentially cool uses for these things, but from the company's perspective all you get is piracy and hackers and cheaters spoiling things for all the legit users. I don't really think trying to crack down on this is 'distressing'. I was kinda confused, because didn't they say another Legend of Heroes game was in development, too? It is, for release on the PSP this year (probably christmas, considering Zero was only september)

oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that the closer they get to the NGP's release, it is potentially riskier make a PSP release? And Sony did say that they were planning to have it out around the holidays. It actually becomes safer in a way. The PSP is likely to become cheaper, people going to be trading them in, ect

European sales can't plummet much more than they already did in the last 3 years.

Well it'd be a lot less 'distressing' if they did what they said they were going to do since the 64DD days. A household console devkit would rock!

There was also a question about PC development in the interview in Falcom Magazine. Basically the answer was "We'd love to, but we can't."

I kinda guesed the PC versions would die out, what with them constantly updating. I thought Ys Origin would change all that, but maybe not.

waiting for PSP2 2000-series then I pandora batteried my PSP-1000 because I wanted to load my games from memory-card. I travel around a lot, and I dont want a buncha UMDs getting hurt. RemoteJoy Lite is pretty good for that, really. It looks better on my computer screen (one of them a 32 inch 720p tv) than on the PSP!
