Hmm, so I've been working on my French lately, and although my grammar is crap, I've got decent reading comprehension. I'm wondering though, if anybody knows any decent comic books and video games, or simple cartoons/television -- ens français, of course. I've got my eye on a few Franco-Belgian bande desinée: Yoko Tsuno seems very cool (tres excellent), as well as les classiques, like Astérix et Obélix, and Les Adventures de Tintin. Y'know, I never payed much attention to French class in school, but I somehow figured out that I had this ability to read it fairly well; I was bored in the shower and read the shampoo's French label and then checked my skill against the English version. It is kinda inexplicable. I can't put together a good sentence myself, and my grammar is terrible, but somehow I can read it. I guess this is what it feels like to learn a language, haha. Quand même, I'd still appreciate help with finding good materials for practicing French.

Comics are great for practicing. I'd also recommend anything by Peyo (Les Schtroumpfs, Johan et Pirlouit, Benoît Brisefer, etc) as well as Lucky Luke, Boule et Bill, Les Petits Hommes. There's a lot of fun general-audience stuff out there. Achille Talon is great for when you've improved your language skills a bit. There's a kids' science magazine named Les Débrouillards which is awesome if you can get your hands on it. Also try books like Le Petit Nicolas, which is written by the author of Asterix so it's hilariously funny. Plus you have the whole world of French-translated manga, which is often cheaper and better-written than the English versions.

Oh yes, there's also some great stuff that doesn't exist in English, like Abara from Tsutomu Nihei.
Thanks, Narugami. This helps to get me started.
