Judging on how well made the remake of Ys OoF and Ys 7 is on the PSP, don't you think its time for a better remake of Ys IV and V for the PSP instead of the PS2 versions. I think we should poll this request to Falcom to get it done.

I'm sure they must have thought about it long ago and probably have something planned for the future, I wouldn't doubt it. After all, they never really had an official release of Ys IV. It would be cool to see what they would do with it if they did a remake.

There was a twitter announcement that they were interested in remaking those two games about a year ago. It's something they're clearly considering and it's almost inevitable anyways since there's no Falcom-made Ys IV and V is desperately in need of a remake for other reasons.

I love PS2 Ys IV & Ys V. I don't know why so many people hate it. But anyway the more remakes is always nice.

V is the best of the Taito games but it's not saying much. The game is still too slow for an Ys game but they at least had the sense to make magic a bit more useful both compared to their version of IV and the original V (seriously, the magic in IV PS2 was less useful than the magic in Falcom's own Ys V and that takes serious effort). They also added Dogi back in, which isn't a bad thing although since Oath in Felghana provided the guy with an excuse to not be present in V (before V got made mind you) it's a case of 'nice but it just reminds you the thing's not canon'. They also ditched the entire Stoker plot, a couple of areas and the song Crimson Ruins.
As for the plots of the remakes, let's just say that I absolutely loathe IV for turning Karna into a generic distressed damsel. In any other version of the game, in the several hours realtime it takes the player to backtrack through several dungeons to pick up three new swords to open that door Karna would have kicked the boss' ass up through his ears and Adol would have arrived to find her asking what took him so long. Oh, and ditching the entire Esteria segment removed one of the coolest bits about both versions of IV.

I'd love a remake of Ys IV, but I can bet Falcom would also ditch the Esteria segment too. It's nice fan service to show all the familiar sites of Ys I, but I don't think there's much point to it... it feels like it was really forced into the game.

I would actually prefer to see a remake of Ys IV using the Ys Eternal engine. I'm not a huge fan of 3D, so I wouldn't mind something with an older look. But, I would really like to see an Ys game somewhere along the lines of let's say The Elders Scroll: Oblivion. Now that would just be pure awesome exploring Esteria in first person, seeing the magnificent tower of Darm in the distance. Dreams, dreams, dreams.

Nahh, I could go for that too provided that the system still allowed for guest characters and Karna had jacked-up stats. Really, either way of remaking IV would work for me.

Hudson's version worked for me. I remember hearing somewhere that Hudson didn't like the idea for Falcom's script, so they made changes to the script resulting in two very different storylines. Hudson's version was obviously more polished.

People complain about the bumping system implemented in the first and second version of Ys, but I always found it very addicting. I can imagine the series would eventually have to go first person as technology progresses. Who knows what Falcom will bring to the Ys series in the future.

Yeah, Oblivion is fun in it's own right, but I don't think Ys would work unless you have the top-down point of view where you can see what's going on all around Adol. FP would make already ridiculous boss fights ridiculouser.

I don't see why first-person perspective would ever be necessary, especially since this is Falcom we're talking about. Still, they have done games with it before so I'm sure if they thought it would be worth experimenting with in Ys they could put something interesting together. Certainly they've never been a company to rest on their comfortable familiars.

Since Falcom is preparing a title for NGP, which will be released at the end of this year, maybe that's Ys? Oh well, I doubt we will see Ys game this year, with Ao no Kiseki getting released as late as September and all. It's little sad that Falcom is paying a lot more attention to Legend of Heroes series than Ys series since I personally prefer the latter. I wanted to hear about new Ys game.

They've been making more money off the Kiseki games (well, Alt Saga was half Ys but when the Kiseki side includes Loewe it kinda screws up the balance) and it's more of a 'we need to keep this moving' type of series than Ys is. Not that they're resting on their comfortablef familiars with Ys; you don't redesign a character (who isn't in any recently released games or ongoing projects) and leak a snippet of the finished artwork if you're not doing something with the series.

I know they don't work on one project at the time but I really expected a new Ys game since a Legend of Heroes game only got released 6 months ago and yet we get another Legend of Heroes. Not that I am saying another Legend of Heroes game will be bad, I guess Zero + Ao no Kiseki were originally one big game that got divided into two because it was too big, hence Ao no Kiseki's early release. Oh well, I should just expect Falcom to release a new Ys game for Ys's 25th anniversary.

My only real gripe with them already releasing another LOH, is that we're less likely to get it localised because of all the translating involved, compared to an Ys game, though, Ys Origin would take longer probably compared to most if not all other Ys games, it's still nowhere near the amount of text found in an LOH game.
