Hi there, I was wondering if anyone owning this could tell me about the music in it. Is it arranged in any way or just recordings of the PC88/98 files as in the Sorcerian windows edition ? Thanks

Hello Niki, I'll send you a PM about this a bit later, but I do own this version of Xanadu as well as several other versions. I'll start it up in a bit and see if the music appears to be different from other versions I've played. Btw, is this your website? raborak.com/saladedemais/I noticed that after downloading the soundtrack MP3s for Revival Xanadu 2 Remix that there were some screenshots from the game in the same folder. As far as I can recall, Revival Xanadu 2 Remix was only released on PC-9800 WIN-95 cd-rom disc. I've seen FDD versions of Revival Xanadu 2 before, but never FDD versions of the "remix" version. If that is the case, then that would mean that you were able to somehow get the CD version of Revival Xanadu 2 Remix to work, which would be something I would very much like to know about. : ) I own originals of both Revival Xanadu and Revival Xanadu 2 Remix on cd-rom, but I've never been able to get them to run on a PC before. Anyhow, if you need it, I can provide photos of the Unbalance version after looking into the music. At present though, if the music were to be different, wouldn't have any method of ripping the music from the game currently. -Thomas

Hey there SkyeWelse I recorded the music of Revival Xanadu 2 Remix from Hoot (http://snesmusic.org/hoot/v2/?system=PC-98), and not from the game itself. I thus sadly have no information about how to start the actual game. Actually I didn't even know it came on CD-ROM format, but thought it'd be a set of discs for the PC-98. The screenshots I included in the archive are from a Japanese website. I'm quite curious as to why the game ever required CD-ROM support, as I would imagine it to be quite light. No yummy redbook audio tracks on these ? I've seen screenshots of the Unbalance version, and it appears to be quite similar to the original PC-98 version unless I was misleaded. That is why I don't have much hope for arranged music, but hey you never know. Thanks a lot for your time, and congratulations on what seems to be an awesome collection.

Hi Niki, I see, that's a shame that it wasn't from the actual disc then. I had kind of hoped that perhaps someone had figured out a method of getting the cd-rom disc to play on a PC outside of using actual PC-9800 hardware. But no problem. Thanks for your reply on that. Actually, while I'm not completely sure, there are quite a lot of audio tracks that sound a bit different from what I've heard in other Xanadu games, so you may be in luck. And they were all located in a BGM folder. I'll PM you the link to that separately. As for whether or not the CD versions of Revival and Revival Xanadu 2 Remix have different music, I'm not sure about that yet either. And as thanks for your comments regarding my collection. I've been collecting Xanadu and Falcom games for years now so it's gotten to be pretty large now: adventym.com/misc/falcom_collection_new.jpg-Thomas

Whoah, I see my assumption about your collection was more than true. <3 <3 <3
Thanks so much for taking the time to do it. Digging up obscure game music, especially Falcom's, is a hobby of mine. Quite fascinating how it's never ending, too. ^^
