Hey, guys. Just posting 'cause the old thread got dump'd, wondering if this is the correct place to post.

Anyhow, HI! I'm Adol and currently, I'm not sure if many of you are aware, but there is still an IRC chat available!

It's the #Ancient_Land_of_Ys on irc.sorcery.net ! It's been relatively quiet to downright bleak the last few months, but I am wondering if there is anything we could do to change that? Perhaps a server change or the addition of bots (perhaps for quizzes)?

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Shout-out to MP83, please let me know if you want ownership of the room again!

I honestly don't get the purpose of chatrooms.

Just talking to random people at random usually means you're talking about something random, which could well be. . randomly boring.
PMs, email, etc are far more convenient, because you can answer at your leisure and put a bit of thought into intelligent discourse, rather than wasting time waiting for a response.
--I have exchanged IMs before, but the damn thing would chirp at me when I was busy, and sit idle when I was awaiting a reply
So idling in chat just seems silly when, should anybody want to talk to me, they can shoot me a PM.

Also, from what I've seen of transcripted chats, most seem to consist of one person talking about something (random), and another person contributing with "XD" or something equally worthless and nonsensical, like internet memes. . . pretty much just to show that they're there (ever hear an interview in Japanese where the interviewer just goes, "mmm, mmm, mmmm" over and over again while the other person talks? If you don't have anything to say, shut the fuck up!).

Frankly, I'm better off talking to myself if the most intelligent feedback I'm going to get is a youtube clip or "XD XD XD," or the most intelligent people to talk to are so bored and desperate as to waste their own time thinking up such lackluster feedback.
