So I am almost through playing Ys IV for PS2, and while I understand the story itself I had trouble with the back story of Celcetta as it was mainly told through text in the relieves with some pretty advanced kanji (for my level at least). I did understand that there were two legends passed down. The white one where the Eldeen were good guys and the black one where they are bad guys. In the end I got that the white one was the correct and that the humans did something stupid along the way.
The details however, like what humans did, the role of the king and the five knights, how Feena and Rhea show up in there (I think I read something about two goddesses but again, kanji kicked my ass) among other things are lost on me.
This is my first time playing any version of Ys IV (I know right) and I do plan to play Dawn of Ys eventually. I understand the PS2 version changed a lot of stuff so whatever backstory you can throw at me, being from MotS for SNES or DoY would be very helpful.
Thank you.

To summarize, SNES' ne says the Eldeens intended to enjoy humans as mere food (which caused a war to break out once the humans found this out, and won, with Lefance and his disciples being the Heroes) In DoY, it's something else, but I sort of forgot... But I do know the game didn't suggest the Eldeens were bad, as far as I recall. Play both, you'll have fun.
