There's something that has been bothering me for a while now...
I have been wondering what versions of certain Falcom game for Windows were released. I know it for some of them, but not all of them, so I figured I could seek some help here in ALoY.
Below are the games and their respective versions that I'm aware of:
Ys ORIGIN - "Normal" Edition (for which the Extra Disc is) - Vista Edition - Windows 7 Edition - Groupon Version (counting it as a separate version for not requiring a CD/DVD to play)
Ys VI - Limited Edition - Standard Edition - Vista Edition - Windows 7 Edition - Groupon Version (counting it as a separate version for not requiring a CD/DVD to play)
YsF - Only one version in terms of compatibility and in-game content, patches etc.
Ys I-II COMPLETE - CD Version - DVD Version - Trial Version (from Yahoo! Japan)
Zwei!! - DVD Version
Gurumin - DVD version
Zwei II - Initial release - + Version that is compatible with Windows 7 and has extras
Vantage Master Japan - CD Version - DVD Version - Power-Up Kit Expansion
Ys I & II Chronicles - Initial release (not compatible with Windows 7?)
I haven't labelled the versions I'm aware of in the best way possible, but I made sure to label them in a way I could at least tell them apart.
So, does anyone know of more versions/releases of those games? Saw anything I mislabelled? I wonder if Zwei!! had a CD version. And if it and Ys I-II COMPLETE had Windows Vista or 7 compatible versions. As well as Vantage Master. And so on.

Ys Chronicles was the Win7 update of Complete.
I think YsF got a Win7 version at the same time 6 and origin did. This would be December 2010.

Thank you. I'll look further into those points.

I'm certain the first print editions of Zwei (the ones in the giant silver boxes) had CD and DVD versions.
Vantage Master Japan also had the DVD re-release that included the PUK in the same box too.

Just checked the japanese wiki for Zwei!! and Gurumin: ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%84%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4!! ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%90%E3%82%8B%E3%81%BF%E3%82%93Yup, both were also released on CD and DVD. Zwei!! isn't compatible with Windows Vista nor 7 though. Gurumin isn't compatible with 7 only (at least as of today! I wonder if its first release was compatible with Vista, or if they released a separated version for that. Or addressed the problem through patches). I also double-checked what bugs said about Ys I & II Chronicles: it was released minimally 2 months after Windows 7 came. So I'm assuming that Ys I & II Chronicles was indeed Windows-7-compatible from the start. As for Ys I-II COMPLETE, it says it's Vista-compatible, but I'm pretty sure many were running through many problems with their old Ys I-II COMPLETE copies on Vista. Does that mean they later released a Vista-compatible version for Ys I-II COMPLETE? I also went and checked YsF's site: www.falcom.co.jp/ysf/order/index.htmlYup, as bugs guessed, a Windows 7 version was released. Now, I wonder if YsF's first release was officially compatible with Windows Vista, or if they released some separated version to be compatible with it. Or... if their patches were enough to address the matter. Lastly, I also checked on Vantage Master Japan. As Kimimi said, some latter versions came with PUK bundled together, but it seems the game only actually updated itself with its latest release in 2007, which was finally officially Vista-compatible (but not 7). Sources: ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/VM_JAPANwww.falcom.co.jp/vmj/index.htmlI'll edit the first post with all these in a while. Thanks again for the help, everyone!

I used to own the OiF LE version, it's definitely compatible with Vista. Can't say for sure if the patches were required or not, as I always installed them all anyway.

I'm running Complete on Vista and I'm not having any problems except for the occasional color glitch but alt tab solves it most of the time. I couldn't run YsF or Ys6 on Vista without the latest patch at the time. The latest versions Doppiapunta and Nightwolves patches support. However the 1.0.0.0 version of Origin worked fine straight out of the box.

Hm, what I wonder is if on that LE box "Vista" is mentioned anywhere; Some Falcom games could work on Vista, but were not officially supported yet, for which Falcom released separated "Vista versions" of their games. I wondered if the first releases, like your LE edition, already officially supported Windows Vista. If "Vista" appears somewhere on the box, it means it's officially Vista-compatible from the start. I just checked the box for the PC version of Ys I & II Chronicles, and it has the Windows 7 logo on it, so yeah, it's officially Windows 7 compatible. -Tom Thanks for confirming.
