Hello I recently got into the Ys series with the PSP releases and played Chronicles, OiF, VII, and Napishtim on PS2. The PSP versions of the games had the freedom of choosing your difficulty while the PC version of OiF makes you start on Normal or Easy and honestly I want to start on the most difficult from the get go. I played Hard on the PSP version of OiF and now that I have seen how much better the game looks on PC, I gotta play it.
Can someone out there please hook me up with a clear data file or just tell me how to start the game off with any difficulty mode so I can get a challenge?

I believe you can enable the game clear flag in the .ini file. I don't recall the specifics, but I'm sure you can find all you need poking around Gamefaqs (that's what I did, and look where it got me! )

I think, then, you'd rather want to start the game on Inferno, not Nightmare, as that difficulty is harder than Nightmare. It's unlockable on PSP, too.
Also, beware with modifying those files: in the PC version, you might activate Genocide Mode that way, which might make you unable to progress in the game, since you can't talk to people, but only kill. If that happens, remember to reinstall the game.

I don't think reinstallation would be necessary (though that's admittedly never happened to me. Sounds kind of fun!). It IS usually a good idea to back up .ini files (or any game-functional text files) and store the original somewhere to swap it back in should any problem arise.
--Now I'm tempted to mess with my .ini file in order to play The Ysdar Scrolls: Grand Theft Adol
