Wait. I'm not entirely sure what needs to be fixed...?
I think the inspiration timeline of Dragon Slayer -> Hydlide -> Ys is pretty apparent. Visually Ys is much closer to Hydlide than any of Falcom's previous games - the use of a outdoor areas rather than purely dungeons, mainly.

Sorry, I was too vague (and probably overly dramatic xD) in my previous posts.
Basically, in my opinion, this line on the beginning: "If nothing else, they can at least be admired for inspiring Falcom's far superior Ys series." When I read it, I'm personally under the impression it's being said Falcom developed Ys' gameplay based off Hydlide. I'd agree with the sentence quoted above if it said instead "If nothing else, they can at least be admired for partially inspiring Falcom's far superior Ys series."
I also think it'd be relevant and worth mentioning Dragon Slayer came first, too (since the article just stated it came "along with Dragon Slayer and Xanadu"), and how it was heavily inspired by Dragon Slayer.
Basically, I just think it's misleading... Had I read this article without having checked other sources first, I'd be under the impression Ys was pretty much a Hydlide rip off, which is not the case.

By the way did you know Ys introduced the idea of recharging health while resting to games? Hydlide (1984) would like a word with you. Rogue (1980 - the mother of all RPGs, health regenerating and bump systems) would like to have a word with you. PS: May I never get 7000 posts.

Rogue (1980 - the mother of all RPGs, health regenerating and bump systems) would like to have a word with you. Haha, alright. Unrealistically-fast life-regeneration involving a graphical representation of hit-points, then! You're not going to run from an encounter with a D in Rogue hide around the corner for 30 seconds [or turns] and be as good as new. And yeah, I'm going to have to agree with DiscoAlucard on this one. Ys is more like "Hydlide with better music and less grinding" than it is like any of the Dragon Slayer games.

But that's because Hydlide is more akin to Dragon Slayer in the first place. In a way. What I mean is: were it not for Dragon Slayer, there would have been no Hydlide. Consequently, no Dragon Slayer = No Ys, as well. But... eh. Somehow I never took Rogue into account as well. XD
