So I was browsing random Ys games and came across some old sites mentioning a Ys online. anyone care to shed light on what happened to development of this game? I've heard it was cancelled.

Wasn't cancelled. xD MP83, myself and Yakra played this a LOT in 2009 and 2010. First we played on European servers, then they closed. So then we tried to move to korean/japanese servers (there was a Chinese one too), but we only managed to move to the latter. So we played that until they put up a regional IP Block months later. We managed to bypass it, but then they blocked the VPN's IP as well, so then we said F it. xD In that time, some others from here like tancients, Gamemusicfreak, lailmith and Ashurei joined us briefly, too, and some people from YsOL EU also joined this forum for a short period of time, as well as Kelbonim, an employee of the EU servers' owners. It was fun.  A Global Ys Online server was about to launch, but it didn't, and I guess it just won't. If you still would like to have a lot more of info, then be my guest and dig up all those Ys Online topics in ALoY, and there is (was?) a lot of things in the spam thread as well. But lemme already say in advance its resemblance to actual Ys games was something like 1%. |
