Hey guys, I just wanted to remind you that the JDK Band concert is tonight (Japan time) and will be broadcast live on Nico Nico Douga. Concert Details: www.falcom.co.jp/jdk/Concert Site on Nico Nico: live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv120448897The concert costs 1,000yen to watch, so you have to add "points" to your Nico Nico account. They accept many forms of payment, so maybe even those outside of Japan can do it. I don't know if this statement is 100% accurate, but you'd might as well try, I guess. Purchasing points on Nico Nico: point.nicovideo.jp/index/purchase/The hall opens at 5pm and concert time runs from 6-8:30. If you watch the live broadcast, you might see me in the audience. lol Take care and hope you can watch!!

Really want to see this. Really can't, though. Also, hey, why not wave an "Ancient Land of Ys" sign around?

The concert was sooo much fun! I was in the 2nd row on the left side. There was an opening act with two people playing the koto and another on a traditional Japanese flute (not sure the proper name of the instrument). I wasn't familiar with the first song, but then they played "Feena" for their last song...and it was AMAZING! Great way to warm up to the main act!! I can't recall now what songs they played at first but they covered many older Ys themes throughout the night, several from Ys II, I believe. They also did a whole segment of music from Celceta. My favorite performance of the night was "Mighty Obstacle, The Wind of Zemeth", followed by "Release of the Far West Ocean ~I'm here for you~". They also played a bunch of LoH songs toward the end and also in the encore. I think the themes they played in the 30 min encore were all from the newest LoH:Kiseki game, but I can't be sure since I haven't played a single LoH game. Anyway, wicked awesome concert!! I had a ton of fun and now I really look forward to seeing them in concert again! <3 Oh, and at the end of the concert, all band members tossed something into the audience... and I caught Angelo's guitar pick! It's been slightly used, too. xD

Do you mean a shakuhachi? I love just about every song I've ever heard that was played with one.

Oh, and at the end of the concert, all band members tossed something into the audience... and I caught Angelo's guitar pick! It's been slightly used, too. xD You're probably the only person from here who actually got to see the concert in real. X'D How amazingly lucky ye be! Even more so because.... wow. That pick! ....I hope he didn't throw his actual guitar though? What if it whacked someone on the head? ._.'? *kicked for having silly thoughts* [On a very random and newbie note - I... as much as I love love Falcom's music, I have no clue who the members of the band actually are these days... ^ ^;;;;~ ....Who is Angelo?]And... want to listen to the concert too! Wonder if someone will upload it somewhere someday in the future?

Nice! Pretty cool that you were not only able to attend the JDK concert, but you also were able to score a pick used by a band member. I wish I could have gone to a JDK concert or at least some type of Falcom related event last time I was visiting Japan with my wife. She looked up to see if there were any events in Akihabura on Falcom's website, but they weren't until a bit later after our trip ended.
I am happy that I was at least able to attend the Xbox 360 event in Akiba while I was there and got a chance to meet Yukio Futatsugi and play his new game, Crimson Dragon, which sadly is still not out yet... That was quite an honor meeting the creator of my second favorite game of all time, Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Do you mean a shakuhachi? I love just about every song I've ever heard that was played with one. Ahh, yes! That's what it was! Thanks for reminding me! You're probably the only person from here who actually got to see the concert in real. X'D How amazingly lucky ye be! Even more so because.... wow. That pick! ....I hope he didn't throw his actual guitar though? What if it whacked someone on the head? ._.'? *kicked for having silly thoughts* Yeah, it was a obviously a pick that he used in the concert. I've been lucky in the past and got another pick from other bands and sometimes they have an excess of picks for their use during the concert, so by the time they finish, they just toss the rest to the crowd: new, unused picks. It's definitely a nice catch, but it feels more lucky to me to get a used one! Makes me want to dig out my guitar again... As for the public display of rage toward a musical instrument, it's rather rare in Japan. I've only seen Yukihiro from L'Arc~en~Ciel kick one of his drums before. Although I can't speak for EVERY musical talent in the country, my feeling is that it's not really accepted here. I was really kinda upset that Yukihiro did that; it was a very un-L'Arc thing to do. Ah, well here you go then!! Current jdk members: Vocal: Icarus Watanabe Vocal: Kotera Kanako Guitar: Teramae "Angelo" Kou (Tokunami) Guitar: Inoue Terukazu Bass: Enomoto Atsushi Drums: Okajima Toshiharu (leader) Keyboard: Kamikura Noriyuki Violin: Mizutani Mizuki This is from the bassist Enomoto Atsushi's twitter, so I'm not sure if this link will work or not. Guitarist Teramae "Angelo" Kou on the left, and Atsushi on the right. pbs.twimg.com/media/A_2eSqpCAAA7mxK.jpgHere's another pic that Atsushi posted on his twitter of all members shortly after the concert: pbs.twimg.com/media/A_2F_JNCcAA6AF_.jpgFrom Atsushi in the front going counterclockwise: Mizutani Mizuki (Violin) Icarus Watanabe (Vocal) Teramae "Angelo" Kou (Guitar) Kamikura Noriyuki (Keyboard) Inoue Terukazu (Guitar) Okajima Toshiharu (Drums) Kotera Kanako (Vocal) Actually, they will be releasing a DVD of this concert. They gave us a preliminary date when to expect its release, but I can't remember it now. Probably sometime in the summer. I know the girl operating the camera turned it around toward the audience a couple times--you might see my stupid face in the crowd. lol There were several other foreigners who were sitting behind me...and at one point during the concert, Kanako asked them where they were from... and apparently they came from Spain just for the concert. Everyone probably thought I was with them. hahaha Nice! Pretty cool that you were not only able to attend the JDK concert, but you also were able to score a pick used by a band member. I wish I could have gone to a JDK concert or at least some type of Falcom related event last time I was visiting Japan with my wife. That was quite an honor meeting the creator of my second favorite game of all time, Panzer Dragoon Saga. Yeah, seriously, I've been so lucky to attend as many music concerts as I have since I moved to Yokohama. I could hardly get anywhere very often when I lived in Nagoya. Except it's very costly to live over here... and boy, do I miss my apartment in Nagoya!!! I'm paying just about the same I did then but for a much smaller piece of crap apartment. I'd really like to move, but you need at least $3,000 up front to move anywhere, and it's usually more since I have a cat. I think I'm stuck where I am for a long while... *sigh* That's awesome that you could meet the creator of PDS. I never played anything after the original Panzer Dragoon, though. I think I loved the music more than actually playing it. heehee

Holy crap, so this is a little off topic from Falcom stuff, but I just saw a short event on Nico Nico with Mitsuda Yasunori. He was asked a bunch of questions like how he normally starts working on writing a score, how composing for games and anime is different, etc. At the beginning there was a short performance of the main theme from Chrono Cross and at the end they performed a couple other themes, one from Tsugunai, one from KiRite, and another from Ten Plants 2. The thing about this that got me though was that...I recognized a bunch of the performers from the Falcom New Years Live concert. Okaji, the drummer, was there... and so was Mizutani, and Kaminaga "John" Daisuke, who played the shakuhachi at the beginning of the jdk concert. It's really crazy how all these musicians mix and meld and play in each others' band. Anyway, if anyone is interested, this is the official page for this other band, called Super John Brothers: deepcrystal.2083.jpThey're going to have a bunch more concerts soon, it looks like! I hope I can go to some!
