Hi, just made my account now, im on a phone so please forgive silly typos.
Anyway Ive been aware of Ys since i saw it at certain videostores back when the sega genesis was hot stuff. Never bought it though (i was a poor kid!).
Then one day i saw ps2's ark of napishtam and i was like "oh hey i remember dat Ys game! Ill try it now" and bought it. It was... Like... A combat oriented zelda on crack with seiken densetsu music, great!
Sooo several years ago i went and tried all the Ys games i could get my hands on. Complete, and oath of felghanna. Enjoyed them all but stopped afterwards since im a huge gamer and i gotta make my feeble efforts to try and play new interesting games as fast as they come out (fail, they come out too fast these days).
Alas i saw Ys origin on sale on steam a few days ago, and remember wanting to try it (there was no english version of it before when i played the other Ys games). I beat it using yunica, and am at arthropod with hugo, i will try claw after too of course. Im enjoying it so much that i plan on buying chronicles+ even though i gather it has nothing over complete other than pure cosmetics. Recently got a psp, will buy that one too, alas i wont have a vita so 4 will have to wait qq.
Anyway i have some questions if anybody is willing to help.
1: not to downplay Ys, its gold, but objectively, the stories seem pretty... Umm, average? I mean its no xenosaga or planescape torment. But despite this, for some reason i find myself attatched to many characters, mainly the two goddesses. I forget what happens at the end of ys2, will have to play to find out. But iirc the end was... Kinda a downer. As for origin, i find myself really touched with the goddess/yunica relationship, more than the story as a whole does.
Am i the only one who feels so close to some of the cast YET feels that they dont really have much depth (mostly due to sheer lack of dialogue in the games really i isnt an rpg after all)?
2: any news on ys4 getting a pc rerelease? I dont think ill get a vita for many years.
3: i know it has hard and very hard but i want to play normal on every character first so i can guage wich i feel most comfortable with in a balanced comparison, but so far normal seems easier than i remember normal Ys complete/oath/ark was, is that just me?
Thanks for any advice, and for contributing to a fine site =)
