IMHO, the head admin's word is final. Not one of the mods could change that. If anyone could, MP83 wouldn't be banned. This is the kind of situation where a decision was there the second I finished reading the post. I didn't realize you where full on admin of this site now. Not that it changes my mind in the least. Decisions about banning any member, let alone one with 9 years of contribution, should not be made the second the post is read. The rules as they are currently set up don't allow for this. For good reason. Now to receive such a hasty perma-ban, I'm pretty sure everyone could guess (based on what's in the rules) how brutal the post was. Thats the thing. We can't. How are we supposed to? All we have is an edited post with nothing relevant in it and MP83's reputation. That and I could rewrite the rules whenever I want. I didn't, because they are good, but there are exceptions. This was one. Sad to see that my first job here was something like this, really. This I don't like one bit. It shows that you are willing to change the rules to suit only yourself with no regard for the rest of us. However in cases like this, I usually try to hide everything that has happened. Not because the ban wasn't justified (though it might look as such), but because it keeps the forum overall cleaner. Now you must understand that a clean forum is better than a battlefield and all the discussion that has been going on isn't helping. Yes a clean forum is better but that's why we have the dump. His post should have only been edited so far as to remove the offense but still see what he did that warranted a permanent ban the second you finished reading the post. Then the post should have been moved to the dump. Sorry the discussion isn't helping but I believe that those of us who have been talking about it are genuinely just trying to understand what the hell happened. It was fun the first time around, but it is getting old. I'm in power now and while I'm new, you can trust me that I'm doing my job as well as humanly possible to make sure this forum is going to be a nice and cozy place. Sorry but it was never meant to be fun on my behalf. I have legitimate questions and I don't like the direction the Moderation team is headed. I do believe you in so far as mp83 must have broken (a) rule(s), but I still completely disagree with the immediate ban. I know that this forum will still be a nice and cozy place only because of the nature of the members here. Or what, are you thinking that I'm just trolling everyone? This certainly seems to be the case based on other posts and lines. My posts and lines? I never once thought you where trolling everyone. I do however think MP83 made a terrible mistake giving you admin rights. |

Well from the outside looking in it seems like you didn't really give jdkluv power. More like you gave him the pole and said go figure out how to fish. To answer your question a bit more directly. jdkluv has been a contributing member for a couple of years now and I don't disagree with him being a mod but I do think your decision was a mistake.
You gave him power based solely on a dare. Whether you took anytime at all to make the decision is unclear by the forum messages but I truly don't believe you did. Even though you are still new here You come around often so I don't disagree with you being a mod if done in accordance with what has already been set up. I do however believe you have shown yourself to be far to impulsive to be admin.
Based on some of your lines about it to jdkluv it's unclear, but seems to be the case, that you have changed how to access mod user rights so you may have even effectively removed unsavory as a mod in everything but name.
Edit: And to be clear I'm not saying MP83 needs special treatment because he is a former mod and long standing member of the community. He does deserve fair treatment though. No mater how grievous this first offense was It was still a first. He should not have been banned without first receiving a suspension to cool his head. If he was bound and determined to come back and repeat his transgression then fine. Ban it is. You would have my complete support. But this is not what happened.
