Hi everyone,
I'm not the kind of guy you usually see on forums and gaming websites, I'm not even from Japan or an anglophone country, but when I was a child I fell in love with the Ys series, starting from Ys seven and then exploring every single game of the series.
I'm a poor fool (following the example given by the major of fooland aka Adol Christin) which aspires to become a member of Falcom and work directly in the core of the adventures that keep me going in good and very bad times (I'd better not to write about them, just saying I owe part of me and my life to the series).
I'll be super-happy if I could find as much infos as possible on the company, the programs they use, the foreigners (if any) who tried the same path as me (who knows?), and many things I couldn't even guess on the games. Getting in touch with people who like the series as well is awesome.
I'm currently attending University and planning on making a demo disk of a game entirely action-JRPG oriented, and I'm studying pretty hard as I'm a lv 1 adventurer (=low programming skills, low knowledge of Japanese...) but with a passion and a will that perfectly matches the same of someone that had no fear of a storm to follow his dreams.
...I'll be studying as many books as needed, at least I will gain some MP.

WHOAH! A reply after a month? Is the forum that inactive? How sad, I would have liked to be there years ago.

Welcome to the forums. I had meant to reply sooner, but life has been pretty busy for me as of late. The forum it quite inactive now though. Perhaps it will pick up a bit more when the next Ys game is released.
I'm afraid I don't know much about the tools or software that Falcom uses, other than I believe they have many custom tools built in-house for use with their engines.

I can confirm they used Phyrex (the standard for playstation) up until Sen no Kiseki. And Retas to make the visual arts as showed in a video in which mr. President showed the whole process for the OP of Ao (or Zero) no Kiseki.
I left rpgmaker and installed Unreal Engine this past month because of the wide support in terms of portability and C++ (I don't get why did they made Unity with C# support as it is not supposed to be the PS standard).
I just hope to make some anime-style character as soon as possible to start baking something good.
Pheraps I would have liked to open a thread for a project of mine but it's surely wise to wait for a bit...

I've been waiting years to announce my project. Mostly just want to make enough progress to shell out a kickstarter video or something... not just my music. How about you? What holds you back?

Well, first of all I just started this UE experience, so I'm basically in need to learn the basics, plus I have no external help of any kind, no one into audio, in graphics ... basically one-man in a wider environment (with rpgmaker you could basically make a game alone ). Even tough starting from scratch and my low level doesn't scare me that much I just don't have time for it. Chances are I'm currently on a one-man team (by fact, since most of the guys left in my course never programmed) for a C shell game I have to complete for my credit, and this will drain me all the free time in this period, and I'm some exams late as well. While a group had to make a Checkers and another one Battleships, we have Blockus ... with no game engine this means I have never made a basic UI or a minmaxing algorithm so I'll be pretty occupied. Almost forgot, your album is pretty cool!
