Hey, just wanted to see if anyone wanted to share their worst experience/decision about gaming. I'll start out with two:
1. Seeing both Suikoden I and II (back in late 99/early 2000) at Toys R Us and not even lifting a finger to pick them up. I still sigh at night because of that.
2. Picking up World of Warcraft. After a year and a half, there's nothing left to do except go on (what I think) are the ridiculous 40 man raids over and over again, with a new one planned.

They were clearing out Terranigma (new) (and other now rare SNES games) for about $20 each back in '99. I didn't even buy a single copy. Idiot!

Getting Rid of my old copy of Dance Dance Revolution for DDR Konamix and passing up Star Ocean: The Second Story, as well as Grandia when they were around $20 at one time.

Selling my original Turbo Duo around '94. I later got another one, but it would be cool if I still had my original one.

Short of : * Selling my turbo duo & games * Selling my neo-geo & games * Selling my genesis and Shining Force I & II
* Playing Star Control 3... precious minutes of my life I can never get back.

Giving away my NES and all the games. Milon's Secret Castle, Simon's Quest, Super Mario 2... well I guess if I REALLY missed them I'd be more into emulation. Doesn't quite feel the same though. Leaving my SNES and all the games at my old roommate's house. Mortal Kombat II, Final Fantasy III (VI), Actraiser... some other awesome games. Going through ALL of Xenogears the first time without ever even knowing what Hyper Mode was. When I went through it a second time (years later), I used a walkthrough so I could get everything. All the bosses I had trouble with the first go? Yeah, they weren't very difficult. D'OH! Oh yeah and I dug out my old TurboGrafx-CD a few months back and realized that I lost the AC adapter somewhere along the line, what an idiot. Hooray for Magic Engine.

You can use a Mega Drive (Genesis) 2 AC adaptor for your TG16.

Mine then:
1. Not earning enough money to buy good games. 2. Picking up World of Warcraft. Dumbest thing & funniest thing. Stil no 60 though.

Hmm, going along with what Gnosis301 said: 1. World of Warcraft. While I did enjoy the game immensely at first, it became so time consuming to the point of insanity, and the long 4-5 hour 40 man raids through Molten Core once a week just for starters was simply the tip of the iceburg. My girlfriend of whom I live with also got a very unhealthy addiction to the game in terms of PVP (Player vs. Player) since we played on a PVP server with Battlegrounds. This caused her to be stressed out all the damn time trying to compete with others for a raise in army rank. I'll say that it was a fun game and the Horde faction really rocks the house, but it just became a series of "Work, come home, play, eat dinner while playing, go sleep at crack of dawn, go to work...repeat. There was nothing in our lives any more and surely no time for console game or old school games. When we both decided to quit, we realized just how much time we were spending on it and just how much longer the days seemed to be without World of Warcraft in our daily lives. I still miss it, but I still don't miss it.
2. I don't know about the worst thing, but the hardest thing for me to do was to completely end the old site/community I used to run dealing with the Suikoden series, called "The Castle". I still to this day wish I had managed to keep up with it.
3. Finishing the entire trilogy of licensed Zelda CD-i games that were so terrible it isn't even funny, just for the sake of being a big Zelda fan.
4. Getting to the end of Wizards and Warriors III for the first time (No saves, start to finish was the only way) only to be confronted by Malkil, the evil wizard of which I was mashing the dialogue button to speed through the text, only to accidently trigger (YES) on a yes or no question regarding whether or not I would join forces with Malkil to conquer the world. Watching the scene unfold as Malkil frys Kuros in the back with a bolt of magic lightning and giving the "game over" screen for all of my hard work and troubles. I was rather pissed.
5. Deciding to buy a PAL Super Nintendo console along with Terraenigma in the early days before the "Magical-Happy-Emulation-Scene" that we have today, in hopes to play it, only to find out that I couldn't run the blasted thing on a U.S. television set.

Sounds like you bought that SNES a long time ago, but if you still have it, it is pretty easy to mod it so that you can boot Terranigma in 50Hz (PAL) (so that it will actually start) and then switch over to 60Hz (NTSC) so that you can play it on your TV.
That's what I do with my copy of Terranigma. I don't want to play it in 50Hz since it was originally designed for 60Hz.

SkyeWelse, I totally feel your pain on the Wizards and Warriors III thing. Because, damn, some of them jumping challenges are nuts.
Never could beat that thing. Got close before, though.

Emulators have spoiled me, and emulators that I can play on my TV using an modded Xbox just makes me lazy. lol Yeah, it was pretty rough and I eventually did it, a few times. I really like that game. It could have been worse though, much worse... I could have died at the end of the original NES Battletoads. lol -SkyeWelse

Unfortunately not without the help of Mr. GameGenie. I mean come on, 'aint nobody has a friend like him when it came down to nearly impossible games. lol He allowed you to live longer, punch harder and have infinite ammo... only problem was that Game Genie himself took his place as the very last boss after the final boss and was in fact impossible to defeat. The rat bastard. : >
Some games I can realistically say that were harder than Battletoads was probably Alundra, Phantom Dust and Ikaruga. Well maybe not Alundra. But I think the hardest game ever in my own humble opinion is Elemental Gearbolt, especially if you are going for the good ending. Sheesh!

Yeah, Alundra's not that bad. I managed to beat it, whilst in Battletoads, I never got too far.

Hmm I'd say
-Uninstalling Ys III Oath, and being too lazy to reinstall it no matter how badly I want to play it again.
that and maybe painting my sega genesis white to look like a Dreamcast, leaving my original NES case open so my mom would think it didn't work and toss it out

1) Dieing in the tower in Azure dreams while I had a +20-30 something mirror shield and golden sword...dieing in azure dreams with my father's sword. Selling the ultimate egg the first time through...
2) Getting addicted to Pokemon...I still remember all of the original 150 names...and I got them all, and leveled them all up to 100...
3) In final fantasy 8 I got to the last boss 2 times. Never beat her though. The data got erased twice. Once was my sisters fault, and the other was my fault. I was trying to make room on a memory card and hit the wrong file...Poof...

I actually liked 8. I thought Squall was cool and I liked the idea of the gunblade. However, it was the first final fantasy I played. One of the first rpg's I played actually.

Eventually, every thread on this board becomes a Final Fantasy-thread. Guess it's about time we change the name to Ancient Land of Final Fantasy.
