I'm all for the new IPs, I know it's an easy way to avoid staleness in a new game, but why leave a good but old series for scraps? Why is it that Resident Evil series was allowed a comeback? Because, as much as the original RE games were crap, RE4 was a piece of brilliance. Mega Man and its various spinoffs have long since worn out their welcome in my book. It would take a total re-envisioning beyond even RE4's caliber to give the series any meaning anymore. Hmm.. mayeb you missed my point. I'm saying, what's keeping Capcom from making an "RE4", so to speak, for the Mega Man series? Why can't they put even half of the effort, time, and money into a new Mega Man game that they did for RE4? EDIT: wait, maybe you did get it but that's your opinion that it's beyond saving. I think Mega Man is still more well known as a game series than the RE series today. But every game coming out for it is not only far off from the classic, but hidden from the casual market. They really need to get the series reintroduced to the larger market. Have they released Mega Man 2 on cell phones yet? that would do well, I'd wager.

After the response of X7 from the fans of course they changed X8 to be more 2D friendly.

Yeah, I really must place X8 only above X7... with the 3D, the series lost it's speed (even though X8 came much closer than X7), precision, and cool level design. I loved to, especially with the earlier X games, try and wall-jump through entire stages... my finger never left the dash button. I went through entire stages at high speeds without a scratch, although I never really tried to make records, I just love how it felt (X4's Cyber Peacock stage is just plain beautiful without using soul weapons and it's usually the first stage I do when I play X4). It's that thrill of speed and action that makes me go back and replay X-X4 all the time.

X4 was a really great entry just like Megaman 8. X5 had good gameplay but I hated the storyboard cutscenes. The US localization of X5 had the bosses named as members of Guns N Roses. X6 also had great gameplay but again I hated the storyboard cutscenes.

Has Sigma died yet?
Because he gets killed almost as much as Zero. I pretty much wrote him off after Lamer Sigma in X6, but I heard he came back.

Yes. He's been "deleted" so to speak... i mean, he's a virus, right? If you've played Command Missions and the Zero series, you can see that he's nowhere to be found. And both of those take place after the X series. Click if you don't mind spoilers.I've always felt that Sigma was one of the better handled typical video game antagonists out there. He's a lot less annoying than Dracula, for example. Sigma is a virus so he's never really been killed before, if you think about it (maybe twice: once when he became the virus, and once when the virus was destroyed). X8's story was a breath of fresh air, now that I think about it. Pretty great final boss and ending... and shown through better production values than the other X games on Sony consoles, that's for sure. X and his character design/art has looked worse with every game, though.

See, I thought Gate was pretty kickin' rad in X6. I mean, he's got Met armor, pretty much. Then Lamer Sigma comes in for no reason, despite should have dying in the colony crash. (and in X3). Still, I was cool with him being pretty much a techno zombie, and being wiped out then.
Kinda lame to see he kept going for so long. Though nice to see he wasn't in Command Mission at all.

Sigma was as big as a planet in X7.

See, Dracula coming back was alright, because typically it was only every hundred years or so; exceptions may occur due to the cult, but otherwise the cycle stuck. Sigma, though, come back in like ten minutes =[

Gate was pretty kicking! I loved the fact he was never huge. He just invested in some kickin' armor.
