I love em all... well, all the ones I've played. I've been playing Castlevania since I was stuck on the NES and it's become one of my top 5 favorite series that almost never disappoints. One of the first games that showed me how much of a difference it makes when a game has strong atmosphere. I can't exactly make a top 10 list, but I can say that SotN is absolutely my most favorite. I've played through it 4 times and still want to play it again. I really do like the metrovanias/castleroids most. Well, these are my favorites (or more like, all the Castlevanias I've played):
- Castlevania (I loved it as a kid and still enjoy it more than it's remake, CV4. It's an easy game to just pick up and play anytime you want, especially if you've mastered it)
- Castlevania II (I know it's not as good as the original, but I can't help but love it just as much. I could barely play it as a kid, but when I played it again recently I couldn't stop playing till i beat it and I loved every minute... except the ending. Dwelling of Doom rocks!!)
- Castlevania III (my least favorite of the first 3, despite probably being the best of them)
- Super Castlevania IV (didn't like it as much as Dracula X when I was younger, but playing it on VC has made it a rival to Rondo. I don't really like most of the music in it, though the first few stages sound amazing.)
- Rondo of Blood (late to the party, but better late than never... I think it has become my favorite of the classic style)
- SotN (Unfortunately I picked it up quite late, but it's become one of my top 5 games of all time)
- CotM (my first castleroid, before SotN. The final battle is way too hard, though. Still need to complete it.)
- HoD (Strangely, I loved the music in it... I never got to finish it, though)
- AoS (favorite of the GBA castlevanias, but barely beating CotM)
- DoS (I like it better than AoS, so far... I need to finish it
too many things keep coming up)
- PoR (own it, but have yet to play it
)
- LoI (I don't care what anyone says, this has the best soundtrack of the series and I LOVE this game! it's my favorite game on PS2)
- CoD (2nd best OST in the whole series. but I didn't really like the game better than LoI. It fixed some problems, but also made new ones...)
I still need to acquire Bloodlines and the N64 games... all hope is on Wii's Virtual Console.
