Err, is it me or is everybody here playing just console games? Almost all the threads in the Gamer's Realm seem to be for console games. Is there some kind of rule or everyone here just don't want to talk about PC games?
For the record, I only play PC games, albeit a few English ones and mostly Japanese ones. Then again, if we are talking about (non-erotic) Japanese PC games, I suppose there isn't much to talk about except Falcom games -_-;;

You mean games that are only available on PC?
I have some but haven't played them for a while... in fact, I used to play online... then my computer was too slow to compete...
The games I enjoyed playing is the Thief series. 1st and 2nd one were very well made... and some levels were actually creepy (even though the graphics may be crap... the atmosphere will haunt you)

I've tried some PC games in the past but unless they're MMO varieties...I tend to get very bored with them. ^^; Computer = long range socializing and console games just tend to have easier controls for most folks I think.
Fable wasn't bad for a computer game but it got rather..dull after awhile. And KB bashing on most other PC games just gets highly annoying for me personally. If I could work them all with my gamepad, that'd be great- but remarkably few of the ones I've tried (Baldur's Gate, Dungeon Siege, the Diablos) seemed to take well to that.
Some people also seem convinced that the MMO side of PC gaming was a creation of el Diablo. (No pun intended toward the better known 'ancestors' of MMOs, Diablo I & II.), so it doesn't seem to come up much.

PC games have a way higher lose to win ratio when quality is concerned, really. Not to mention they're prey to all the bugs and shit that a computer normally suffers from.
Really, though, there is some fine PCness out there. Like Fallout. =]
So playing favorites either way is silly buggers.
But really, I just hate that PC games aren't as "ready to use" as console games. And my computer is weak.

The only PC games I've played lately is Origins and Felghana. I too hate the fact that PC games arent ready out of the box like console games. With consoles you don't really have to worry about uprgrading every 5 years or so while PC games its seems about every year you need a better graphics card to play the newest game.

Wow, seems like I really don't belong to the crowd here. After all, most people belong to either factions most of the time, not both. It's not like I don't have my fair share of console gaming, did try out PS1 and 2 games from my friend. Had to admit, there were tons of fantastic Japanese RPGs on consoles and I was really tempted. However as usual money and time were a concern and it meant I could only go one way. Also I prefer games in their original languages and it's costly to buy Japanese games.
I could have gone either way, but somehow I am now somewhat a PC enthusiast and to tell the truth, I couldn't be bothered with console games now (seeing that I have to buy the hundreds of rpgs I wanted to play in the past). As for upgrading, it's all part of the fun being an enthusiast... most of you here prolly wont understand. The same could be said of you, every 3-4 years, there's gonna be some new console and you'll still end up buying it to play newer games.
Unfortunately, what I say here prolly don't mean much in a forum full of console gamers and I admit I'm quite a rare one that hasn't played a full console game in 3 years.
Still, it doesn't hurt to find another PC gamer like me...

Ooh, nice to find some PC supporters. But before we get carried away, try not to turn this into some silly flame war between PC and Console. Hey Musa I like PC Games Some of mine Favorites are Might and Magic series(6-8 preferably), Heros of Might and Magic, Command & Conquer, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Sim City 4, Civ 1,2,3 and 4, Vampire: Masquerade Bloodlines and a bunch more! Nice selection, although I haven't really played most of them, I've heard good things. In fact I'm playing CnC3 now Seems to be a lot to look forward PC wise in my eyes: Assasins Creed Crysis Half Life 2 Ep2 Guilty Gear XX Reloaded Lost Planet (check out the PC demo if you can) New Sam & Max episodes collection Spore Witcher & anything Falcom/SEGA release for the PC in Japan Thankfully we get none of the stupid region lock out nonsense that console gamers have Then there is all the dojin/homebrew titles and emulation. By emulation I mean the use of the original game discs (although sometime turn them into ISO's to boost up loading times) from PCengine/PS1/Saturn on PC. I'm deffo happy to have ditched the consoles Well, to be fair, both factions have good things coming for them. For the PC, Windows Vista and DX10 graphics are spurring on the new pc gaming scene (just waiting for the bugs to go away). For the Console, we've got Wii, PS3 and Xbox Elite to spice things up (still waiting for the really good games to come out). Heh... I'm not interested in even ONE SINGLE GAME you listed, save for the last one ("anything Falcom/SEGA release for the PC in Japan"). I'm a console gamer all the way... the story-heavy anime-inspired RPGs rarely seem to come out for the PC, except in Japan. They're usually console-only... and those are the kinds of games I love. PSP all the way, man! No region protection, an awesome library of games (no matter what anyone may say to the contrary!), and JUST THE RIGHT SIZE with JUST THE RIGHT amount of power. -Tom I agree with the RPG on console thing. That's why I did not bother with console since that's a lot , and I mean really a lot, of back logging to do if I were to start playing them now. Unfortunately, I like clarity and size in game visuals and audio. Hand-held games never really attracted me at all because I have to squint at the small screen and playing on the move spoils whatever audio sounds I'd rather enjoy especially in crowds. If I were to choose, it's PC with a huge LCD or a Console with HDTV.

Well wyrd, you're not the only one I know who has converted to PSP. Haha, I've got some PC gaming friends who actually play more PSP games now. Oh well, I'm not the kind of guy to do stuff while travelling (I'd rather sleep on the journey ) Mahou, I installed Vista just to play that Lost Planet Demo. It looks really cool but I really really hope they would further optimize the game engine and the drivers. I did not spend my hard earned cash on my gaming rig just to be throttled by games made for Geforce"9900". At least I will have my Sora no Kiseki the 3rd to keep me company before Crysis comes out.

I really don't understand platform loyalty these days, to be honest. I just go where the good stuff is at if I can afford it.
This is also why I often end up poking fun at Wyrdy's fanboyism ;]

I play PC games. In fact, it was only a year ago that I got my first console system (that I could call mine, at least -- the TG16/Duo was the family's). So, I used to be an exclusively PC guy. Unfortunately, my PC cost me $600 3 years ago, so it's not up to the task of most of the games released in the past year and a half. I still have a list of games I've been meaning to try, as soon as I upgrade/build a new one. But now that most PC games are also getting released for my PS2 (well, that will likely change pretty soon), I just can't justify the cost of a new PC -- at least while I'm still a student, struggling financially and all.

I started PC gaming in 2003 when Ys VI came out. It was my sole motivaton for buying a computer. Previously, I relied on public computers such as those at a library. To this day the only PC games I play are Falcom games. I have been tempted many times to try other games, but as of now I just haven't been motivated enough to do so.

But the first one i got pretty far. Hard ass games. To everyone else: Isnt thier any Pc games that interest you guys(Besides falcom)? I find that alot of the games I like to play only come out on PC. Games Like Emperor Battle for Dune, Baldurs gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale Titan Quest etc.

Anyone who hasn't played Fallout 1 and 2 are to quietly write a large L upon their foreheads. /me sticks out thumb and index finger in the form of an "L" and places them in front of forehead. Great games I heard, didn't get to try them. Was deciding between Jap PC and English PC games. Apparently the Japs won, don't ask me why.

I second the motion for adventure games. I really loved every Lucas Arts adventure game I played (too bad I only played the demos for Full Throttle and Grimfandango). That genre is dying. There are still a few released here and there, but most aren't very good. I've recently played the new Sam and Max episodic stuff, and it's a great exception. As is the new Broken Sword game.
Aside from that, I was really into SimCity 2000 way back when, and I liked Jane's simulations. (Note to self: I need a new joystick so I can go back and play those again.)

Fallout's hard? Well, I guess if you rush into things it is.
Also, add in Planescape Torment.
Also Also, with the exception of Falcom's stuff, I've never even heard of much of a Japanese PC game market, save for the pr0n stuff. I've always seen it as being where North America has been able to shine.
Someday, I wanna try out (PC-Style) Arcana, though.

LucsasArt? Monkey Island series was actually fun. I liked #3 best. Played a bit of Sam and Max and it's good too. You can never go wrong with good humour in a game I've played... Quake 2 Age of Empires, AOE: Rise of Rome, AOE2 and expansion and Age of Mythology. Unreal Tournament Thief Series: Dark Project, Metal Age, and Deadly Shadows. Deux Ex (played it once... lol) NHL and NBA (EA Sports) Rise of Nations (have it but haven't gotten around to playing it) Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Star Trek: Elite Force 2 You Don't Know Jack Sims! lol and Ys of course I hate how new games have freakin HUGE computer requirement.

I've always seen it as being where North America has been able to shine. Someday, I wanna try out (PC-Style) Arcana, though. Well, it is true that the Japanese PC Market is filled to the brim (and overflowing it) with the pr0n stuff. But once in a while you do get some non-p0rn stuff... Here's a list of non-p0rn Japanese game companies I've touched so far (sites are in Japanese): Besides Falcom, the next main PC player will be Kogado. They're the ones who made the Power Doll series (Strategy with Mecha, good designs, pretty sub-par 2d/3d graphics engine). They also have many of those click-and-read "games" but without the pr0n (something like Tokimeki Memorial). There's Koei who did the famous Sangokushi Strategy games... never bothered, too much Japanese text and stuff. Then there's Broccoli, famed for Digi Charat and Galaxy Angel. They did a few Galaxy Angel games for the PC which had decent 3d graphics in their space battles. But due to their recent finance crisis, their new Galaxy Angel II games are only for PS2 (stares hate at them). Once in a blue moon do you get pretty good PC games like Cross Hermit from Enterbrain. It has fantastic character designs and it's a RTS game with diablo elements. Graphics are only decent 2d though. The only non-pr0n fully 3d games I've played that are not Falcom games is a series called Angelic Vale by some unknown company. Pretty ok 3d SRPG...RTS with famous voice talents but that's about it. And that's all I can recall from the top of my mind now. The other 90% of the Japanese PC Market is catered to pr0n... not that I'm complaining (I'm not even considering the Japanese translated versions of English games... Oblivion in Japanese! Ack...)
