Haha, this was actually a joke thread directed at a post Inochi made. Well, let's make it a real thread then. Unlocked due to activity.

hah! didn't notice you had done this. Well, I'm likely going to play the game today so I might give my impressions tonight. since this thread is Wii related, I remember reading that some people had Metroid Prime 3 here... would anyone mind sharing their friend code? I need me some gunship bumper stickers.

I looked through a review. The game seems kinda fun. What impresses me most though is the weird "glow" that appears to be everywhere in this game. Zelda TP had a similiar effect. Looks nice. Look at the green stuff in this screenshot to see what I mean: Clickance

^^ clickance failed I wouldn't know though, I've only seen the first two videos of the game ever released, and I only really tried to look at several screenshots. I avoided anything that could spoil the game. Anyways, my impressions... It's nothing too special. I mean, it's beautiful but it controls pretty much like the other 3D Mario games. The Wii remote seems next to pointless so far... ...this is what I thought before I got through the first 5 minutes. This game is too awesome It's the most "old school" feeling 3D Mario ever. The returning music from old games and returning forgotten enemies and other things really help that. I think it's better than Mario 64 in most ways (If I somehow get over how you can't control the camera like in 64). I'm only one star in and I can already say it's way better than Sunshine (and I loved Sunshine too). It's so beautiful and fun It's been too long since I've played a game like this. I couldn't stop playing... I almost missed an important ebay auction (my first in a long time). I did miss a less important one, though. That's why I'm here... now I'm going back to play some MORE!

Last Mario game I played was SM64.
I really miss playing games like that.
Is the new one anything similar to SM64?

Yes. It's sort of like SM64 and SMB3 combined.

This game just gets better and better it's hard to believe I'm the only one that seems to be playing it here! I don't want to spoil any of the amazing things I'm seeing, just in case The hub area is back, like the castle or plaza in the other 3D Marios, but it's different this time... it feels like a mix of the usual hub area and it also feels like SMB3's set up at the same time because you move from stage to stage in a linear-ish path. But I've heard that the game opens up a bit later on as well, so it's the best of both worlds also, it's beaten Ocarina of Time as the highest rated game ever! While I so far doubt it's going to be a new entry into my top 10 favorite games of all time, I have to say it deserves being the highest rated... I haven't seen one person without a bias that dislikes anything in this game. It's even drawing in old haters.

I have Mario Galaxy here, but I'm to busy with Assassin's Creed and in December with Uncharted. I played Mario until the first star and the game is so much better than the ones I just mentioned, so I'll save the best for last

Nice idea, but... I can't even comprehend how you can restrain yourself good thing you didn't go any deeper or your plan might just have failed I think it's a great winter game, though. Since so much of the game is in space, I actually love playing the game at night. This is in contrast to Mario Sunshine which is probably the only game I can't bare to play without sunlight... and that game actually came out in the summer so it worked out perfectly as well. Some snow would make this game even more memorable, the way Mario 64 was (ahh... fond memories of my 9th birthday). All this rain isn't cutting it.

Hmm.. yes, I've come to think that this place may actually be "too cool" for Mario anymore, if that makes sense. Never thought I'd see such a place, but here it is. Guess I'm one of the few who's had cherished memories of growing up playing Mario with his family. Yes, any Mario related single player games are pretty much the only single player games everyone I knew played, along with me. It's such a nice experiance. And now it's happening again. It's one of those few single player game I'd actually rather not play secluded, late at night after everyone goes to sleep, to get the perfect undisturbed atmosphere. The perfect atmosphere for this game would actually be a Christmas family reunion.
When I got this game I rushed home, called my brother, and popped it into the Wii and we both played for hours. The last time I did that was with SSB Melee. The game's already brought me new wonderful memories. This game has reminded me the great days of gaming past.
But then again, this game is probably boring. If it is, fine. Just remember that for some people it's far beyond the opposite. In fact, it's their game of the year.

My game of the year is Star Tropics. It came out in 1990 but it's the most fun I've had with a game this year (and I've played this many times in the past).

I meant out of games that have come out this year. But i know what you mean, my last two years were full of old Ys games that I played for the first time. I went around saying they were my GotY and I damn well meant that they were the best games I had played all year.

Yeah I know, but I haven't played anything from this year that's been good (except Bioshock).

I got all 120 stars with mario but it appears in order to get the 121 stars, you need to beat the game with Luigi. Some of the purple stars were damn tough to get but the challenge is welcome.

i agree i would so love something like super paper mario with Bonk, there is a decent remake useing similar 2-d slash 3-d graphics for the PS2 and Gamecube, i would have loved if they made the rest of the games as well and not just part one.
