So with all of this SnK hullabaloo going on with Xseed, I found my interest in poor, forgotten, horribly translated Tear of Vermillion rekindled. And I got to that infamous NPC who states "I didn't have eaten a unusual today..." and just kinda stared at it.
The translation of the game is interesting to me in that, aside from the GLARING grammatical problems like the one above (which there are less of then you might be led to believe, though there are more than enough), the game isn't translated to the point that it's completely incomprehensible or even, dare I say, all that poorly. All the dialogue is just so goddamn boring! Everyone's statements feel so stale and emotionless. Which is, in essence, a poor translation, but I guess I'm just trying to say it's not bad from a "I know what is happening in this scene" perspective. I'm certainly glad I can play it, if nothing else.
We'll see what happens when I finish this sucker. Maybe I'll go smash my face into Cagesong and White Witch afterwards. I'd say maybe I won't finish it, but if I could put up with Phantasy Star I, I can put up with this. At least this is somewhat fun.
Bottom line: Hooray for a quality company like Xseed (PROBABLY, THOSE CRYPTIC JERKS) doing SnK.

I'm glad to see that as well. I loved ToV, and CSotO

Yeah, they were okay. SotO took forever to properly get going, but once it did, it was pretty fun. Ironically, PotMW seems like the best so far, but by the time I got to it, other games were released and I'd just played the previous two LoH games, so I was kind of bored with that type of game. I'll finish it someday.

I'm sort of tempted to take the plunge and give the PSP versions a try despite their flaws. We'll see what happens, I guess.
In other news, I started up Spirit Tracks the other day. Was having a hard time enjoying it at first, but things started to pick up once I got through the first dungeon and it became a lot more entertaining. It's getting me excited for the next Wii title.

Broke lv.100 and 90 hours of gameplay on PSP2 this weekend. Still don't have the game breaking lv.4 insta-death Twin Daggers yet
...and I have too many fire element weapons in my palette

Still waiting for so much as an announcement of a US release for that game. :/ Phantasy Star's not so daunting that I wouldn't import it, but I figured there would inevitably be a US announcement, so I didn't even bother.
Wondering if this is somehting I should start to reconsider. :/

The only things I can think of about as to why it's been this long without a US release announce are 1) still working on the voice acting, 2) licensing issues
I'd rather Sega take their time and to the US release right... maybe even advertise the game for once because this one deserves it moreso than any previous PSU. I can see all the cross over items and licensed items being removed. I worry about them removing Internet-Multi Mode (requires maintaining servers) and DLC missions/events (like PSPo). And it's pretty obvious that you won't be able to import your character from the US PSU servers anymore.. but the game still better have support for importing your character from PSPo.. sure your levels and everything gets reset, but it unlocks some nice starting items and titles
Funny thing is I just brought up PSP2 again on another forum and someone had the same reaction: That they're severely tempted to pick the game up now instead of waiting for a US release
I wonder if someone'll find a way to covert a JP character to a US character like in PSPo. It'd be nice to keep all my progress, but unlike some games I wouldn't be heartbroken if I had to start from scratch since I enjoy playing PSP2 so much

PSZ just came out before Christmas 09 too, and I'm sure Sega doesn't want to interfere with that releases maximum sales numbers.

I seriously need to pick it up again. I only quit because of a tremendously frustrating boss, which is a fairly silly reason now.
I'm still stalking the PSU forums for anything on a localization.

I quit PSZ because it was as clunky as PSO, wasn't fun to play, and the 3-4 hour dungeon that you have to complete without saving... and it was mandatory to do it twice to get to Super Hard mode
...or four times if you bought both the JP and US versions of PSZ like I did...

To be honest, PSU was pretty damn clunky too, until PSP2 alleviated a lot of the issues. Only thing it needs now is a bit of a speed boost.

And to get off the PSP and back where it belongs

The PS2 version was the first version I played, and I have to say... yeah, it lagged a bit, but I thought it looked pretty damn good. I mean, the 360 version is basically the same thing with some added shaders, and I like how it looks.
Then again, I'm easy to please when it comes to graphics. Just give me good designs and generous depth of field and I'll be content.
Though I do wonder why I like depth of field effects so much. Maybe it's because I'm short-sighted and that's how I see things every day without my glasses.

Nothing beat the PC version of PSU Seriously.. if it weren't for you consoles, Sega wouldn't have had to have nerfed the TECHNIC graphics at levels 31+ The PSP makes perfect sense from a marketing standpoint. The PSP has been THE multiplayer console in Japan for a while, much like the 360 in the US, or how the PC used to be

I wish that market was feasible in the US. With the kind of games that get put out on the PSP, I mean. Sorry, I'm not gonna go play play MW2 or TF2 with all the bros at my uni. If I had more than 1 person to play PSPo with, I'd probably still be playing that one like a fiend.

I dunno, when I played the PC versions of both the original and AotI, they looked basically the same as the PS2 versions, but slightly higher-res and laggier. Which is probably my fault, anyway, since my computer sucks balls.

Screw Phantasy Star. Classic Dungeon is where it's at.
Well, not really. I'm only playing the demo and kind of confused with the magic circles and skills stuff. I was too lazy to actually try and read the dialogue in the tutorial because this old school bit font IN JAPANESE is a bit of a turn-off. It's fine if I see it in English though. ^^;;;;;;;;
There are some JP help sites though I don't think they'll go into great detail about the game system. I may check them out later on if I care enough to.
This game isn't really turning out to be something I like. *Judging from only 2 dungeon floors although I think the demo has more/still continues* But this may be because I'm not really into it and I sort of don't know what's going on. XD
~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally got around to playing the God Eater demo. Damn, it's quite long! Starts off with too many cutscenes! XD
Man, this game reminds me of Phantasy Star Portable and it seems like it's definitely geared toward multiplayer.
I'll stick with the demo till the end but I'm not sure I want to play the full game. :/ I unlocked the third mission but haven't started it yet.
I really despise fact that the camera is controlled with the D-pad. I'd much rather have movement be mapped to that and have the analog stick for camera. >:| Or maybe I'm more annoyed at the fact that the camera moves so damn slow.
It sucks because the enemies leap everywhere. 9___9
To compensate for that, I just keep hitting L and R which triggers the gun mode but at least it re-centers the camera.
The music in the headquarters or whatever is rather annoying too since it's way too repetitive.
Bleh. I think I'll go back to my DS for the next little while.
