I wonder exactly WHY is Falcom enabling it? I think Ys I.II COMPLETE isn't selling a single copy for many months, and they are letting people download Ys I COMPLETE to give a try, and if the person likes it, the person might buy Ys I.II COMPLETE to see how the story continues (Ys II). edit: I think the patches might work. I'm downloading it now to test it. edit2: Google translation: Ys I complete edition ' as for download sale being started,Yahoo! Download of game. Yahoo! As for feature of the game, the place where it is possible to try playing before the purchasing in free trial version,! So far as for the one even 1 time Ys I complete edition ' you have not played, please try in propriety trial version. =o Explained.

yeah, it's pretty odd. You'd think they'd release even older Ys games first if they wanted to do something like this.
or is this just a demo...?
edit: yup.

Nice. Release a demo almost ten years after the initial release (Eternal). Smart move.
Cheapstakes.

Well, at least newcomers will be able to get a taste of Ys Complete, even if it is just a demo (or is it time limited?).

Falcom, we love you guys... but surely you've milked the Ys I and II cash cow to bleedin'...? Then again, Square Enix is still "remaking" (and reselling) all the oldies too. Must be something about that 20th anniversary bug. Nostalgia sells, I guess. It IS a good way to attract consumers-- be they "old friends" or newcomers, so hey. Why not a downloadable demo? MMOs pull that fishing hook on people all the time.

Well, Ys I and II are still arguably the best and probably most well known in the series, so why not? Anyways, It's only cash cowing if you actually make cash off of it it's the 20th anniversary so that's a good excuse. Once these "festivities" are over I'm sure they'll move on. Personally, I don't think a lot of these developers do enough for their series anniversaries. Ys, Contra, Mega Man, KoF, Zelda, Castlevania, etc all had mediocre Anniversary celebrations, if you ask me. KoF and Mega Man actually had huge parties on their anniversaries, though.
