Hated 'em. Nothing can compare to Ys Book I & II apparently.
I must admit, however, that I loathe 99% of all VA out there. I can't STAND the bad stuff, and there's almost none that's good, IMHO.

Well, for your information - Ys Book I-II had some really professional voice actors! It's quite impressive, actually. Check for yourself! Ys Book I-II on IMDb!

Seldane - Yes, I know that Ys Book I & II had some great talent. Doesn't excuse or explain the atrocious job done on III, however.
Deuce - That's the beauty of not understanding Japanese... I LITERALLY can't appreciate terrible JP VA no matter how much of it I hear. So if I'm going to be foisted with terrible VA, and have to choose between that which I do understand and that which I don't... I'll take the ignorant route!

Got mine today (PAL Version). Well, better late than never, I guess, but definitely worth the wait. And it includes a 60Hz option, so video quality is on par with the NTSC version. My best spent 35 Euros in quite some time.

It's out already? Wow! I need to buy it for some reason.
How many languages does the game contain? Does it feature spoken dialogue in the other languages?

I finally grabbed my copy a couple days ago. Usually I would just borrow it from my friend, but since he said he didn't play it anymore he just gave it to me .

It's out already? Wow! I need to buy it for some reason. How many languages does the game contain? Does it feature spoken dialogue in the other languages? There are five selectable languages for on-screen text: English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Dialogues remain in English regardless the selected language, but that was to be expected.

I see. Then what was the big delay? I'm still pissed. It's really quite simple. The English were too busy deciding whether to add u's in their proper places. The Germans were upset over the shoddy job done with the bar and drunken Rheda. The French were crying for months after having to brutally slay Lanaluna and watch poor Agares spill his heart in sweet soliloquey. The Spanish were obviously occupied with their Inquisition while having to decide whether the bosses were strong enough to recieve an "el" or such pansies that they all needed "la." Oh, and the Italians... well... they spend all their time being all "ciao ;D" on their Vespa's. So really, Sel, what were you expecting? Though I find the concept of switching to Japanese-dialogue mode while the text is French to be highly amusing. xD

What I especially find amazing is that the original chime when you receive a new item is still intact. This really makes me happy. I think that chime is very distinctive and is the best item receiving chime in video game history. Yeah, though Zelda and Metroid are very high up there in distinct, recognizable, warm, & nostalgic treasure get chimes.

I see. Then what was the big delay? I'm still pissed. The alternative 60Hz mode for PAL release might be one of the reasons. I'm soooo happy that it's included. No huge black borders on the screen to ruin my gaming experience. And the game will run as smooth as the NTSC version.
Anyways, for those who doesn't know why these black borders appears when NTSC console games are converted into PAL, check out the following link: Click!Of course that's not the reason. Since it's using 60Hz, it is unmodified. The 50Hz change (which MUST be in there) will require some work. But certainly not much. But they probably didn't want to release the game in the middle of the summer. It's not exactly the best gaming season.

Has anyone else noticed how EXTREMELY SIMILAR the item-get melody is between the Ys and Metroid series? It kinda feels like Falcom might have ripped off Nintendo a little on that... though I'd be more inclined to say it's a tribute to Metroid, really. I still consider Super Metroid to be one of the greatest video games of all time. -Tom Yeah I noticed it too. .........scary

Nice to see others who have noticed the metroid and Ys similarities when it comes to getting items. Here's another one that used to be common among RPGs: The number 65,535. We can make a game out of this!

We can make a game out of this! That is because of programming limitations, etc. It is not a "real" max number or whatever. You know what I mean.

Wow, I did not realize that! I always thought it was some kind of tradition they were trying to keep. Now it's not so cool anymore....

Yes, they are from the Eternal Story Limited box, and they are bottlecaps, if you haven't seen what else it comes with, it has a model of Esteria where there are pre-carved holes you insert the bottlecaps into, as well as a removable "Ys" model you can insert into the map to "make Ys return from the sky." You can even insert darm tower. It's pretty neat, I'll try to get some pics of it up soon, if no one beats me to it.
