What's up to everyone!! Myself would like to introduce myself..uh... Yea, NeWayz, my name's Mike, and I'm from Burbank, California. I'm half Guatemalan and Filipino, and I'm 18 currently in College. Since most of the Ys games I want to play I can only get from importing, I wanna know if any of you avid gamers might know a thing or two about japanese. Since the games are straightforward for the most part, I can get through them with some ease, but it would be nice if I knew what the characters are talking about. Well, Laterz y'all!

Actually, that's not entirely true anymore. You can now play just about any Ys game you want in English except for Ys V.
Ys 1&2 - English on Turbo Grafx officially, Ys 1 on Sega Master System, DOS, 1&2 unofficially on NES
Ys 1&2 remake/Eternal - Nightwolve's patches are complete enough to understand the important parts. The truly complete and polished patches are coming really really soon!
Ys 3 - Offcially English on Turbo Grafx, Genesis, and SNES. Unofficially English on NES
Ys 4: Mask of the Sun - Unofficially English (SNES only)
Ys 4: Dawn of Ys - Unofficially English but with Japanese voice acting...something I have PERSONALLY undertaken to remedy, hopefully within the next 3 months or so (Turbo Grafx only)
Ys 6: Officially English on PS2
So, as you can see, there are tons of options to play Ys in English. Also, you can buy the OAVs in English too, all 11 episodes.

Ys for SMS is even released in Europe! (In fact, it's the only Ys game released in Europe). And Dainfamuz1, you can play almost any version of Ys on PC and PS2 via emulators.

Yes.. Or well, sort of. The links decided to stop working again. I guess I've had enough unreliable hosts. Anyway, I have decided to add every ROM of the older Ys games, so just wait a week or so, they should probably be uploaded by then. Sorry for all the trouble.

Unlike Romanic languages, it does not have a billion different ways to say the same thing (generally), and unlike Germanic languages, the bulk of the language is not founded on stringing words together in a disorganized fashion. 2- Japan has urban areas, like Tokyo, and rural areas. The rural areas are very beautiful, and are also very peaceful. If you ever go to Tokyo, however, the first thing you'll probably notice is how smoky the place is. Much like New York, there's a blanket combination of cigaratte and car smoke, and every once in a while you get blasted by a cloud of incredibly foul-smelling air. What to stay away from in Tokyo- Anything dressed entirely in black, especially men in suits, and expensive cars. Ikebukuro, Roppongi, North Shinjuku, etc.. There are some incredibly seedy and dangerous parts of Tokyo. Loose women, and prostitution. Don't have sex with strangers. They have diseases. I'm totally serious about that.

Thanx for the heads up, I'm not promiscuous or anything like that, so I wouldn't worry about women, I know how to choose, but I still haven't DONE much . Well, it sounds like I would spend most of my time in the Rural areas ^_^. Soooo, how's China? My dad is going there in April, so I would REALLY appreciate any tips when In China and what to look for. THANX!!!

From what I understand, China is nothing like Japan in terms of layout, but I've never been there personally.

I know some Japanese. Attended a Japanese Course at school, but it wasn't a "OMG WHAT A GREAT COURSE". It was primarily for another class, but the teacher was kind to let anyone who wanted to learn attend ^^
I say this: Travel to Japan and make up your own mind, do not listen to what other people say. Do you want to think and make decisions yourself, or do you want to do what others say?
Self, I'm going to travel to Tokyo - Or Japan in generall ^^ Planning on staying there 2months atleast. Then I'll decide if I'm going to move there.

I was told it isn't difficult to learn, but I spent two years in Spanish class and didn't pick up much, I guess it's b/c I wasn't too interested, I just needed it for college. Oh well, perhaps I can learn Tagalog at the same time!!! ^o^ Woohoo!
