Perfect Data is canonical so yes, according to Falcom's own timeline he gets married within five or so years of the end of Ark of Napishtim. My thoughts on that eventual game are lurking somewhere earlier in this thread.
Oh, and I don't know about a fan game where his marriage is mentioned (though if anyone does know, I'd like to know more) but the non-canonical Dawn of Ys does drop a few big hints during the epilogue. Since Dawn isn't part of the canon though, it doesn't mean anything.

I've read an interview with the people who developed The Dawn of Ys (none of which are involved with Falcom) and they said they had a lot of fun toying/messing with the storyline in that game. Nothing that happens in it is "real".

Thanks MP83, I had no idea! This book seems like a Ys Bible to me, if it registers the events that happened from Ys I through VI, and if it also gives every little detail and also says more things that were once unknown. Hm... I have to find that one. '._. eBay or Yahoo! Japan, I suppose. Someday.

It is easier to buy that book directly from Falcom.

One thing to say: This is MADNESS!!! I need that book! Hmmm... I'll search for it very seriously sometime in April 2008 (when I might have some money left for products overall). Any ideas about how much this one would cost directly from Falcom? Ien (whatever how you write it) is OK. xD

I got that book at a Kinokuniya Bookstore in California in '04. It was about $50.00 if I remember correctly. I searched for the book at different Kinokuniya store sites and couldn't find anything.

My thoughts on that eventual game are lurking somewhere earlier in this thread. Maybe Falcom is planning to switch the main character of the series for good? I mean Adol's father gave up his adventures after getting marrired and having Adol (this was mentioned in the prologue to Ys I) so there is high probability that marriage = the end of adventure for Adol too. Even so if that's the case, I still would like to see one Ys game that has the closure for Adol (not ditching the heroine and finally settling down) before moving on.

According to Falcom, Adol has had hundreds of adventures, and has only had six in the games so far. I don't think they will abandon him.

Even then it's possible that he will no longer be the main character of the series and become the support character like Dogi. I suppose he can still do some adventuring after marriage but on a much smaller scale. Those hundreds can include the ones that he wasn't the main hero but rather an observer and helper (like Niena's stepfather in Ys V). In addition, I highly doubt that all of those hundreds of adventures are major save-the-world types. He could have had countless of minor adventures between one Ys game to another.

but then Dogi would be cast into their shadows... I hope Dogi gets to be playable some day. Even just as a fun bonus that has nothing to do with the story.

That's a brilliant idea, wyrdwad, although I doubt that will happen It would feel really awkward if there is someone else who has exactly the same bad luck with boats and fetish for turning down helpless people that one saves. And then there is Dogi, as Inochi Ù¤ said.

[...]I mean Adol's father gave up his adventures after getting marrired and having Adol (this was mentioned in the prologue to Ys I)[...] What the...?! xDD Mentioned in Ys I's prologue? Ys ETERNAL? That Perfect Data book? xDD I need sum proof. This is potentially highly valuable information. It's also possible he marries someone who's just as big of an adventurer as he is, and for the rest of the series, they both go on adventures TOGETHER, with either one selectable as a playable character. That would be the coolest solution, IMHO. -Tom I couldn't agree more. xD but then Dogi would be cast into their shadows... I hope Dogi gets to be playable some day. Even just as a fun bonus that has nothing to do with the story. Agreed. Hey, Dogi can find a lady of his own! Some sort of tomboy character with a foul mouth would work well for him. -Tom Yes, maybe.

what's wrong with some Lilia nudity? anyhow, a two player simultaneous mode with Adol and Dogi would be a lot of fun. we need more adventure games with two player mode.

Well, in the manual for Ys Eternal I, it details Adol's background. Basically, a storyteller came to Adol's village and told about great stories of pirates and adventurers. After hearing those stories, Adol (while still being a kid) set out alone to find a sea. Since his village was in a remote mountain region, there was no way for him to find it. Adol's father eventually found him crying. When Adol's father asked him why he left the village suddenly, Adol replied that he wanted to see a sea. Then, his father laughed and said something like "You really are my son." It was at this point that Adol learned that his father was an adventurer until his father got married and had him (this part can be ambiguous since Adol's father could have gotten married and didn't settle down until he had Adol). The father showed Adol many records of the adventurers he had. Well, that's basically what the prologue in the manual said. If this goes against Perfect Data book or any recent story announcement by Falcom, I guess this is no longer valid. Please let me know if that's the case.
