There's some stuff that looks nice on paper but rather dull if you try to copy it to the pixel. That and some stuff is impossible to find a good reference for...Like those dang emelas swords. >_> Try Leonhardt's sword from EDVI SC. The rest of his costume is pretty easy once you find a good trenchcoat to modify but that weapon... If I can figure out how to do the damn coat I'll probably do Chester next but the dual layer and fringe are a bit of a bother... and I'm not even going to try for the Brave Sword.

Leonhardt's sword has good ref images for it. The root of 90% of the cosplay coats out there is the "Matrix" pattern that Simplicity put out ages ago. It is designed to be easy to make.

I'd be curious to see your design sketches. I'm doing one of the blades(not the Livart) but I'm using wood. After many many hours with a sander and saw, an oak plank became a sword. No, it's not transparent but I've got the shape down pretty well. Hopefully a clever paint job will get me off the hook from the purists. I've had ideas for a Livart too but my level of motivation for cosplay stuff has been below zero lately. For crazy shaped objects, I've used a mix of wonderflex(plastic sheets that can be stretched, curled and bent in wierd shapes after heated and hold the form,) balsafoam and just covering stuff that has the shape I need in Shellac. Some of the best "popping veins" I've done in a set of batwings was yarn covered in shellac.

Wood is nice for being relatively non-toxic. Even with my lab science background, all the precautions taken, dealing with all those carcinogenic chemicals involved with plastics, plastics fumes and the adhesives to make em work? Eeeeeeehh...
There are highly toxic glues you can use that will weld pieces of plexiglass together and there are some stores near me that sell colored plastic sheeting. I figured for my edition of the Livard, I'd cover a piece of acrylic with EL tape then go nuts layering gel medium. Not quite so toxic and then I can have multiple layers with varying pigment.
I did make a small test with the craziest of materials...Sugar! Gives a whole new meaning to the term "sword licker" but pity it's relatively heavy and not strong enough to warrant the additional weight.

Okay!
I have been looking like mad for any kind of sandal that might be modified to work as Lilia's, but I can't find anything that works. Does anyone have any suggestions? Places that might have something that is close to what she has that I can fix up to look right, and things like that.
Thank you!

Ah. You could find something that resembles the basic sandle with the 2 horizontal straps at any Payless shoes(or some other place you can get shoes cheapo.) The ankle straps, you'll probably have to attach yourself.
Around April or May, shoe stores are going to start stocking sandals again so you'll have better luck shopping around.

At the same time, said things are gonna be pretty cheap now, if you can find them.

A lot like a top. It bears quite the resemblance to Lilia's. *Sage nod*
I expect she'll unveil the whole thing once she's done.

Okay! Since I am mostly done with Lilia it seems fit to reveal my next plan.... A SECOND COSTUME! This one will be for the cosplay contest. I would like to stay with the Ys theme but since I have only played Ys I and II I'm kind of stuck. You see I will not cosplay characters that I don't like so that makes this a little hard seeing as I own Ys III but I refuse to play it till I play IV. I also have access to game VI but I can't play that till I play IV, III, and V. So I have deiced that I will make a list of characters that I might cosplay from other games. You may add in others for consideration. But you must add a picture of said character, a description would also help If I do not know of the character. I will accept Other Ys characters but my one demand is no final fantasy VII or VIII characters. The reason for this is that I already get enough fangirls coming up to me saying "Oh my God! that Cloud/ Irvine cosplayer is so hot! Oh God wasn't Cloud/ Squall so hot in FF VII/FF VIII!" I really hate then having to say not really cause then they actually follow you around asking why, and when I tell them that he's just not what I think a good looking guy looks like, it gets really messy really quick. I would like to minimize that happening as much as possible. Thus stay away from them please. charactersCherie Angel's Present: Chronicles of the Marl Kingdom Kururu Puppet Princess of the Marl Kingdom 2: Little Princess Maya Fey Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Elli Harvest Moon 64 Luna Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete Marie Saga Frontier 2 Tia Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals Add to them as you wish but please provide pictures as well. And let me know if anyone likes the ones that I'm already thinking about.

Man, every last one, you don't have the hair for at all. Like, maybe Luna, except you have the wrong color and would have to ruin it to get it the right color.
Or maybe Elli, if you're willing to hack it off.

USE REAL SMILIES.
Also: Point: but you'd have to find one that isn't terrible. This is a challange!

Sometimes and it is sometimes it isn't. Just depends on what the colour and style are.

I have decided to add Athena Asamiya From King of Fighters/Athena: Awakening from the Ordinary Life. I am doing so for my new friend who says that I have to at least consider her. Thus since I like her and have a picture he gave me you have one more choice then before!
