I don't know where to begin. I have: PS2, PC, emulators (NES, SNES, Genesis) What version of Ys should I get and what system will be necessary? There is a bewildering array of Ys games out there and I am not sure which way to turn. I want to start with Parts 1 & 2.

Thank you! Smart move. I will go to www.HimeyaShop.com and buy it for Christmas. P.S. I am currently playing through Ys III on the Genesis and Ys IV on the SNES.

Here's how you should start: I & II - Get Ys I & II Complete for PC (Ys Book I & II for the Turbo Grafx CD is also not a bad way to start out with) III - Either the Turbo Grafx CD or the Sega Genesis version (However OIF is A MUST PLAY for this one) IV - Well................ I would say both Mask of the Sun (SFC Version) and Dawn of Ys (PCE Version) V - SNES Version! Not the PS2 Version! VI - Either the PC Version once the patch is released or the PS2 Version. I suggest NOT getting the PSP version. PS. and don't forget that Ys Origin will be out next month on the 21st.

I heartily recommend the Saturn versions of Ys I and II. However, go with what everyone else said first. As part of the Falcom Classics I and II set, they'll probably be some of the hardest to obtain. Not to mention also getting a Saturn (unless you've got a PC decent enough to run via emulation)

(I need to pester GZ for that script to edit) Why don't you pester him to re-hack the entire thing? The patched ROM won't work on a real SNES which is very unfortunate.

Hmmm. I hope that another Ys comes out for PS2! Then, I will buy it. Until then, I am only buying Ys Complete. Ys 3 and 4 will work for emulation and I will just have to wait for the others. Ys Origin sounds interesting, though!

My gateway crack to Ys was Ys I-II for the Turbo Graphix 16. Click!Get Magic Engine and give this game a shot.

Ys Origin sounds interesting, though! Don't forget Ys 6 for PS2. Great game. Better than YsF and Ys1/2 Complete.
