I think on the SMS version of Ys, Adol is called Aron instead. Not that it matters too much, but I was just wondering.

Yes, that is correct. I remember being so upset with the name change when I first played it. (it was a long time ago)

Ys 1 SMS was my first Ys. I remember being confused and irritated when I saw a magazine call him Adol in a preview for Ys 4 I think. "Is it a new character or did they misspell his name? Grrr!"

Don't believe these moujiks. Aron is a different character, he went into Darm Tower after Adol did.

I thought he went to the tower of the doomed?

I'm trying to remember what Dogi's name was in the SMS version, now that you mention it. I may be thinking of the other Ys games, but wasn't it Colin?

Dogi is Dogi in Ys 1 SMS.

Seldane: That's a mistranslation. It's supposed to be Tower of Darm. They had Steve do that one. ...Steve.

And Adol is Arick. xD My friend had made a veery simple comic making fun of all the different names for the characters and objects in the series. XD The problem is that it's in portuguese, but there you go: "Yo! Arick!!" "Colin!! How are ya?" "What about we take a walk around Rodane?" "I can't, I gotta kick Dulk Dekt's ass with the Cureria metal!" "Oh, don't forget to give this amulet from Luther to Jeba!" "DOGI received a BLUE AMMULET from ARON." By the way, Arick is Adol in Ys I for both MS-DOS and AppleIIGS.

Ah, yes. The infamous Fact/Fukt/Dekt/Factor name. America wanted to go with Fact, but he was Fukt in the end. He could've Dekt the person who picked out his name, if he didn't Factor in the possibility he'd be removed from the series altogether, or have a worse US anime name. Dark Fuktor. Just don't talk about his mom, he hates it when you talk about Mother Fuktor. ...*cough*

"Dalk Fukt" is not like Lair, Dulk Dekt or Arick - it is the real, official name.

I never doubted that for a second; but since this topic also mentions Adol and Dogi, I figured Fukt deserved an honorable mention. You can imagine how hard I smiled when I played Ys Origin. Not once have they mentioned (in English, as are most of the character names) a Mother Fukt, or any Fukt who's woman enough to be Fukt, for that matter. Note: I realize this joke's only for those who aren't keen on Japanese pronunciation and/or just continue to pronounce the Japanese names with an english/american/otherwise accent; otherwise, it's hardly funny at all. Regardless, I get the feeling there are plenty of Engrish.com fans in the house. The "Fook Yue" Resturant picture always got to me. I've got to eat there sometime. "So, where did you eat today?" "Fook Yue!" "C'mon man, I'm just asking a simple question!"

Infact, now I really wonder if his name was Fuktor -- or Fuktol -- in the Japanese version of the Ys anime. I should watch it in Japanese sometime.

He was only known as Factor in the first few episodes. They changed it later on.

I believe he went from Factor to Fact the moment Adol started climbing Darm Tower -- or maybe it was after the "Laskan Mines". Darm Tower got the nickname "the Tower of the Damned" earlier in the show. The voiced epilogue theme from the games was nice to hear at the end of each episode. It just struck me as odd that they used the deeper shrine theme during Ys II (running with "Lillian" from the angry townspeople) instead of Ys I, considering the song originated from Ys I. Also one of my favorite themes from the games. Then there's the outer shrine theme that only plays in the FC version; do they have any sort of arranged or orchestral version of that song?
