Hi, like i said, i'm pretty new to all this...
I played Oath in Felghana for an hour or two and then decided to buy it from Himeyashop.com.
It seems it's easily completable in less than 10 hours, so my guess is that i'll finish it in the first week or so.
My question is this: Is there any other game that i should consider in their catalog that is as great as Ys: Oath in Felghana graphic & story wise ? (knowing that i don't understand Japanese at all!) - Perhaps Origin ? Since it looks like an english patch is on it's way. Shipping charges are 19$ for the first item and 4$ each additional game so i'd rather buy the next one now since i'm at it.
thanks!!

Ys ORIGIN and Ys VI (at least PS2's), defiintely. And yes, a patch for YsO is on its way. Thoguh that may mean 2 years or even more. ... also the way you are speaking it does sound you know the series longer than what you claim to. As well that you have the YsOiF patch "illegally", so to speak. Anyway, it may be just me and my paranoia. And you won't get killed by what I said or anything, too. so whatever. xD

Graphically and gameplay-wise, Felghana to me was like an updated version of Ys VI so I'd recommend that. I never played the PS2 or PSP versions so I can only say go for the PC one! XD
Ys Origin is also similar in a way except you're stuck in a tower and don't shell out money to get armor and weapon upgrades.
But hey, why not go back in time and start off with where it all began? XD Er, I'm not talking about some ancient Japanese computer version of Ys I but rather, Ys I Complete! :DDDD
You might be disappointed with the graphics and story but it has its own charm~~~~

wow! thanks for all the replies!!
-Red Hairdoo: i found a gameplay video of Ys (i don't really remember what i was looking for) on youtube and tought 'wow, it seems pretty good - and dunno why i tought that it looked grandia'ish', wich is kind of my all time personnal favorite. So i looked for it on ebay, futureshop, gamebuzz and didn't found any infos on it. I 'found' the game on the net, and it came with the patch - it's bad i know, but i liked it, so i'm buying it, along with the patch as soon as my copy arrives. I wouldn't pay 80$ (and maybe more because of that damn Canada border taxes) if i wouldn't have been able to try it first.
-to all others: thanks! it seems i'll have to buy them all then - but one by one as i discovered that there might be import taxes for here in Canada... I'll wait till i get my copy to make the next move. I'd prefer to have an english version of Ys VI on PC since it seems so much alike Oath in Felghana... but i'll probably get Origin - it's 20$ more... oh well, wait it is!

oh and by the way, are Ys I & II (the one on HimeyaShop) kind of like the remakes of Lunar (graphically speaking)? cheers PoGo

oh and by the way, are Ys I & II (the one on HimeyaShop) kind of like the remakes of Lunar? cheers PoGo ;D No, that's the one that would work with the patch. At least it should. (The patch was done through the original release of the game, I believe.) Not sure this repackaged version that's Vista compatible (I assume it is) would affect things. Bah, just get it!

Ys I & II have been ported and remade soooo many times... but the most recent OFFICIAL port/remake (as in, developed by Falcom themselves) is the Eternal/Complete/Eternal Story version of the game. Whether you get Ys I & II Complete, Ys Eternal and Ys II Eternal, or Ys I & II Eternal Story for the PS2, you're basically getting the same games -- with the sole exception that Ys I & II Complete has new FMV cinemas that aren't in the Eternal versions, and Ys I & II Eternal Story has a fairly minor new sidequest that involves collecting items and entering a dreamworld to talk to two new characters. The PS2 version additions aren't really worth it, though, as they're very, very minor, and the technical flaws (like extended load times, occasional screen-shaking, and more blurriness) kinda make it less desirable -- especially since you can't apply Nightwolve and Deuce's English patch to it, since it's on the PS2. I recommend Ys I & II Complete. -Tom Yeah i think that's what i'm gonna order next (Ys I & II Complete). I really appreciate your inputs, thanks!

Not sure this repackaged version that's Vista compatible (I assume it is) would affect things. Even if it's not labeled as such, for what it's worth, I had no problems with the old version under Vista. So if there's any doubt about whether or not the patch works with the new one, the old one should be fine to get!
