Hmm, the screenshots definitely look interesting, but the poly-count on the models running with Adol in one of the pictures makes the models look like similar to the models used in Mega Man X7, which was something I didn't really like. I just hope it doesn't subtract from the fast-paced gameplay that Ys is known for. I'm starting to miss the pre-rendered sprites already, but I'm willing to try and reserve judgment until some gameplay footage is released. : )
Thanks for translating it Wyrdwad.

I hope I don't have to look out for my party members' dying since that would really suck. Wonder how many characters will be available for recruit.

Well I never really played much of Zwei 1. Player characters fine though, but when it comes to AI... I think it's going to either mess with the difficulty or mess with what they're actually able to do with the bosses. Say, the Gelaldy boss fight in Origin with the really precise jumping section. Are they going to make the AI so perfect they do that flawlessly, or are they just going to get themselves killed? They're more likely to just skip that kind nail-biting stuff altogether and make every boss run around hammering X like that boss on the scan seems to be. And either way you can almost guarantee the no-items-in-battle system I adored so much will either be gone or replaced with healspamming. Anyway, better scans.

I personally am EAGER as hell to play this. =) About the models, they look like PSP's "Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology", but slightly better, and much more "original" (detailed?). I have to see more things to say more stuff, though. =) Also, Ys I & II Chronicles = Ys I-II COMPLETE >_> Fu**, enough milking. Also as far as ports go, this one was already ported by DigiCube, and I doubt Falcom will do the amazing gameplay changes DigiCube did, so... I'm not looking forward to it veeery much. But the fact that it's portable is really, really good. Also I really feel some company will end up getting Ys SEVEN for localization. I'm certainly feeling that.

And either way you can almost guarantee the no-items-in-battle system I adored so much will either be gone or replaced with healspamming. I certainly hope that's not the case. That would take away the challenge/ fun out of the game.

By the look of it, Tia seems to be the one who will save Adol from his shipwrecking (or whatever misfortune he gets himself into) at the beginning. Anyone care to guess whether Adol will arrive at Altago by shipwrecking?

Varion: I don't think it outright suggests anything of the sort. If it's anything like Zwei!! or Zwei 2, the precise jumping will apply to the character you're controlling ONLY, and the others will automatically follow... and if they miss, oh well, they'll be left behind until you leave the screen, and then they'll have miraculously caught up to you. That's fair enough during the main levels, but doesn't really wash for the bosses, which is what I was referring to specifically If they die they die, there's no 'next screen' to go to. Doubt it, considering in one of those screenshots you can see a HP bar below one of the other characters. Could be an actual multiplayer screen I suppose, but I can't really see it. Anyway, some more translations. - 6 years since Adol travelled around Ys. He's been continuing his journeys with Dogi, and finally gets a chance to visit Altago, which he's long wanted to visit because of the ruins, vanished ancient people and the legend of the 5 great dragons, but been unable to because of the war with the Romun Empire. - Adol gets an audience with the King. It seems his fame has even reached here. - Adol bumps into Scias in jail. He's said to be a master swordsman, and is a leading figure in the Dragon Knights. His chivalry and kindness have made him popular in town. - Maya lost her ability to speak when someone close to her died, but she's nonetheless bubbling with curiousity. Lives with Tia. - Tia is a herb seller's daughter. She's poor, but still likes everything neat and is quite charming. Knows a lot about medicinal herbs. - You can control characters other than Adol. - Altago is at the north of the Afroca continent, and while it prospers through trading it's also full of smaller communities living with nature. However, several years ago a endemic disease called the Isuka Fever began to spread rapidly.

Thanks a lot for translation. So Adol didn't get shipwrecked this time. Anyway, six years since Adol travelled around Ys? That means this game's taking place about the same time as Ys VI. Perhaps right before? Then maybe we can expect to see Terra and others at the ending of Ys Seven.

This game will be a blast! Thanks for the info everyone! Now, how long will it be until Falcom posts music samples? I'm dying to hear the new boss and dungeon themes. I would like to see Falcom release this game in a nice box like their PC games, hopefully they'll do that.

I'll be playing it definitely too! I want to hear the new music arrangements, but the PCE version can't be dethroned in my opinion. Hopefully soundtrack CDs will be made for Chronicles.

Alright, more translations. Ys I & II Chronicles - Out in september (so much for summer) - Selectable difficulty modes - Easy, normal, hard, nightmare. - New portraits for PSP version, but you can select the PSP version or PC version. Why are the PSP versions of this so much better than the Ys 7 art? Lilia - Boss Rush mode added. - Selectable music - PC-88 version, PC version and new PSP version. - Changes in the dialogue and new dialogue added. - The idea to make it a full 3D remake came up every meeting they had, but to do so would effectively take as much effort as making a new game, so it came down to 'Ys 7 or Ys 3D remake, pick one'. So they chose 7. More on Ys 7: - Ys 7 is set about half a year after 6. - A long time ago Altago was ruled by five races - the people of the sea (Edona), earth (Shanua), fire (Segram), wind (Kairos), moon (Isuka). The five races worship the five dragons, and peace was maintained throughout the land. After many long years a number of the races have vanished from history, and the remainder live semi-autonomously across the land. - Some bosses are weak against EX Skills. - Largest scale in the Ys series so far - will take more than the usual 10 hours to explore thoroughly. - The Dragon Knights are the official army of Altago province, embodying its own style. Successfully repelled the Romun Empire's attempt to expand its territory and maintained control of the Medo Sea. Combines the functions of army and navy together into one army, and believes in crushing the enemy individually with lightning fast speed. - Isuka fever - A endemic illness that began to spread rapidly throughout Altago several years ago. Symptoms include sudden fits leading to fever and ashthma, and petrification of parts of the body. The illness is uncurable, and the suffere will gradually grow weaker, eventually dying.

Thanks for the great pics/translations guys! 7 totally looks like Xanadu Next (not that that's bad, but gameplay has to make up for lack of graphical detail, which I'm surely hoping for!). -ud

Wow, Seven looks and sounds very promising. And different. I'm not to worried about the AI part since Falcom seems to be one of the few who make it work in a game like this. It could work like Zwei or, considering what looks like life bars, I guess they might be knocked out for a while if the reach zero and then revive automatically. There's many ways to do it without forcing the player to babysit. I think the concept of switching between characters is very interesting and hopefully it'll let Falcom implement a bit more puzzle solving. I'd at least expect to see it work kind of like the sword switching in Napishtim, where certain monsters can only be defeated or are weak against a certain sword or (in this case) characters attack. And yes, three player co-op ala Secret of Mana would be very nice! ^^ Chronicles looks like I & II finally done right on a portable system. The additions are nice (especially on the music front) but ultimately this is just what the DS-port should have been. A good way to play I & II on the road. Anyway.. The fact that they actually want to make a proper 3D remake makes me hopeful that this is the last time I'll buy this game.
