Hi,
My name is Sebastien and I represent the brand Key To Play. As you already know, we are starting an adventure with the release of Ys Online in Europe. Thanks to MP83, I can now post here.
As you know the game is a F2P MMO, in English at the moment. We have the possibility to turn this into a great opportunity for Ys fans all over Europe but in order to go in the right direction, I think it would be nice to have some feedback from the fans.
Unfortunately there is an IP block in place for licensing issues outside of Europe, but for those of you who can and would like to test the game, and give me their feedback, I would be more than happy to give you closed beta keys, if the Staff members agree, of course.
Looking forward to hearing from you, Sebastien aka Kelbonim - Key To Play

Welcome to ALoY, Sebastien. I guarantee you'll find no bigger (or at least more diverse) concentrated Ys fanbase than here. I'm an American, and I look forward to one day trying this title out for myself. It is to my understanding that America is currently restricted? Regardless, I'll be waiting. Again, welcome aboard!

Thanks a lot for the kind welcome. Indeed as far as I know the decision for the rest of the world is in CJ Internet's hands, developpers.

Welcome as well, Kelbonim. We traded PMs once, I was the brazillian interested in trying the game. Hopefully CJ Internet will do something about the matter eventually, so that fans from everywhere else in the world also be able to enjoy the game at some point.

Hi,
Yes unfortunately the license issues are out of my reach. Looking at license prices and I can only tell you that it doesn't come cheap...

Well, perhaps things will change once it becomes popular? Will there be any features whatsoever that your company can or will profit from? Some MMORPGs have pricey DLC -- perhaps if it all works out, those funds could go to licensing? Maybe I'm just presumptuous and optimistic? Regardless, I wish you luck.

Same here Kelbonim. I wish you all the best luck with the European release. I also appreciate the closed beta key that you gave me on the KeyToPlay forums, but as I am American, I'll have to simply wait it out and see how the licensing goes. Though if there are things that we can do as Ys fans to help that happen and make Ys Online more popular in Europe and to American interests, just let us know and maybe we can help out or write to companies who may be interested in publishing it in North America.

Looking at all the licensing issues with Ys Online and the U.S., a question (a very stupid one too! [but I just have to ask! XD]) just popped into my mind right now.... Even if some day, by some chance, Ys Online did become available to everyone in the U.S., that doesn't mean it'll be available everywhere in the world right? I mean... its certainly not available in the Pakistan-India region right now right?
(...Or wait... is it by some chance already available here? [Reason behind this very unreasonable wishful thinking: most of the games one gets over here tend to be the PAL-European releases? So... could it be this area is not restricted? :'D])
(Actually, please ignore my highly stupid babbling. I'm quite sure Europe wouldn't start including half of Asia, even if some very grand mistake was made!)

Hi, I will try to explain the situation as much as I can. We only have a license exploitation agreement from CJ internet for Ys Online. This beeing said, CJ, as a profit oriented company is probably looking for an other publisher to expand their revenue, of course. But all we can say here is 100% hypthotical. Will CJ open world wide servers? Will they contract different publishers around the world? No one can tell at this point. As to answer SkyeWelse, I would admit that yes, there is a lot the Ys fans can do, and I would like to discuss this with the admin of the site if it's ok with you guys. Just drop me a private message. That would be extremely appreciated Thanks, Sebastien / Kelbonim

First of all: Welcome kelbonim to the biggest(?) and most popular(?) Ys/Falcom English language board in the world. I hope for you, and your company that Ys Online will do well. We need more Ys/Falcom games in English.
Although I'm sorry for my fellow board members residing in the US who can't play the game at this time, I'm fortunate enough to live in Europe...and I wouldn't mind testing the game for you, so that it's at its best when it launches globally(hopefully)

I wonder if the US release will have IP block too... Although I'm sorry for my fellow board members residing in the US who can't play the game at this time,[...] *is ignored*

regarding the IP block, there should be one for the sole fact that who ever buy the license for outside Europe will not be able to allow the same countries to access their servers. Otherwise, some major Lawyer PvP could happen haha

Aw man, as an American, I feel sad at the moment, but hopeful that one day I'll be able to play. I will be brutally honest though, this is my first time hearing of this Ys Online project. I'm sorry for being lame. (Can anyone give me info on the musical score though? I'm most curious. x) )

According to MP83, the musics are good, but they aren't quite "memorable".
Still sounds like it's better than the music found in most MMORPGs out there.

Any classic themes remixed?

I'm not sure. I think there might be a few, but from the way it sounded, it seems most aren't remixes from previous Ys games.
