Cant believe no one put these 2 masterpieces up. These are really some of the MOST relaxing lets go to sleep type music evers. Dragon Warrior 8 - Overworld Dragon Warrior 8 - Fly to the Heavens Tales of Phantasia - Mystic Forest I think thats the one for Tales of Phantasia, its the first theme that plays when you leave the town for the first time with Chester at the very start of the game, its really "mystical" and peaceful. And OMG Yakra I simply luv the Suikoden overworld themes, they really made me want to play the games, it just felt so epic to hear them themes, altho I like numbers 1 and 2's the most, currently

QFT. Kikuta's soundtracks are always a pleasure to listen to. I ahve to admit, I never really got into the mana series, but the music is quite pretty. I have the OST to some game called Soukaigi by him that's ridiculously pretty as well. You have Soukaigi music?! Do want. T_T I need more Kikuta in my life. And here I just do a blanket quote of agreement with everybody who pointed out how awesome those SoM tracks are. Because they are. Hmmm... something that hasn't been posted already.... lesseeeee.... I've never thought anything special about the Tales overworld themes, but this one struck a chord with me somehow. I suppose I like the drama. Thrumming string work, brassy horns, tolling bells-- that sort of thing. Fits the title nicely too, at that. Also, for somethin' a little more old school-- since people already showed the yum of FFIV and FFVI's overworld themes... how about FFII? (Hated the gameplay, liked the music.) Sad and lonely overworld themes always stick with me for some reason...

Here's two of my favorites: first, a symphonic version of Dragon Quest I's theme, and second, a beautiful accoustic guitar version of DQII's.

Hey, don't nobody like those? I personally thought the guitar version was awesome.

This is better than everything that was recently posted.

That's Ok, but no way is it better than DQ! I like the DQ's themes for their simplicity and that sorta medieval feel they got. I love Sugiyama's work.
Well, keeping with the old school titles, this one brings back good memories. And I like the upbeat, heroic sound.
And I can't believe nobody mentioned this one.

My new Suikoden overworld theme, its from Genso Suikoden V, a beautiful game,(all suikodens are ^_^). The beginning is WOW!!! And that Zwei theme reminds me of Chrono Cross for some reason Wyrdy, its really tropical if that makes any sense, and CC kinda had a relaxed and tropical feel to it.
I wanna put Terranigmas overworld on too, but cant deside between the first world or the other worlds theme, both good good.
AD I keep forgetinf these two but they are my all time favorties, same with the games first theme, second theme, and it really kicks in half way.

I like this one for it's simplicity. Plus a feels a little mysterious, and I tend to like those.

My own YouTube upload, BTW. I'm getting addicted to this. ;) Given the amount of music videos (like stills with music) on YouTube, I'm surprised they have started a streaming audio option yet like NicoNico. The files will also be generally smaller in size so it could be a plus! Well, I guess there are ample sites out there with the service anyway. :P

Wicked!
I'm throwing us back very far here, and if you don't know this tune then go buy a friggin Nintendo!
Here's the second games overworld theme.
All of the DQ themes are fantastic, and are easily one of my favorite parts to the game.

Oh snap I totally overlooked those. I've heard them before and I absolutely love them. I have the DQ I-II symphonic suite, and I'd like some of the others. Have you seen that DQ 4 movie with all the orchestral songs?

That was great, Justin. The sound of a real orchestra playing the music is pretty awesome. I'll be sure to explore that playlist.

I love playing Seiken Densetsu and hearing the overworld theme. But its a little outdated sounding so I posted the SD4 version.

I love playing Seiken Densetsu and hearing the overworld theme. But its a little outdated sounding so I posted the SD4 version. The hair on my arms just stood up and waves of nostaligia flowed over me. I ADORED FFA when I was younger. Does this song play in Dawn of Mana alot? I may just have to play the game if it does

No it doesn't, but the music in Dawn of Mana is one of its biggest saving graces. Its really, really awesome, and in many ways a great tribute to the whole series. Can't say the same for the gameplay though
